Crown Trade highlights impact of light on colour choice
Crown Trade is encouraging professional decorators to consider how natural and artificial light affect paint colour, helping customers make more informed choices before work begins. The manufacturer says understanding how room orientation, lighting and finish influence colour appearance can reduce costly colour changes, improve customer satisfaction and support higher-value specifications.
South-facing rooms suit cooler shades, while north- facing spaces often benefit from warmer tones to offset cooler natural light. Crown Trade also advises decorators to consider
the effect of artificial lighting, as warm and cool LED bulbs can significantly alter the appearance of paint colours.
Digital tools such as the Crown Colour Visualiser and real paint colour cards allow customers to assess shades under different lighting conditions before decorating. Crown Trade also recommends selecting finishes to suit the space, with matt paints creating a richer appearance and more reflective finishes helping brighten darker rooms.
The guidance forms part of
Crown Trade’s ongoing support for professional decorators seeking to deliver better colour advice and project outcomes.
