Red Gorilla® launches the Gorilla Bin™ helping businesses to navigate ‘Simpler Recycling’

With the imminent roll out of DEFRA’s

Simpler Recycling

Legislation on 31 March 2025, it’s encouraging to find an established British company responding with a practical, recycling waste solution that helps businesses better manage their internal waste sorting and disposal streams.

The Gorilla Bin™ Recycling Solution Red Gorilla® products and Gorilla Bins™ are already widely used across all business sectors. Available in bright colours with a safe, clip-on lid, Gorilla Bins™ are light, easy to clean, frost and UV-ray resistant, and extremely durable. They are perfect for handling your business recycling needs.

Red Gorilla® believes that using brightly coloured bins could be key in helping employees to understand what needs to be recycled under Simpler Recycling, as they are easier to identify, allowing waste to be sorted into the correct groups. Available in different sizes, from

30L to 80L, this gives staff additional capacity if they need it, which for bulkier or odd-shaped items, could make a big difference.

Red Gorilla® is one of many businesses to come out and openly endorse Simpler Recycling, and to support the idea that more thorough capture of recycling materials at source, is good for reducing landfills and minimising the wider environmental impact.

What are businesses required to do? From 31 March this year, all businesses and relevant non- domestic premises (such as schools, hospitals and care homes etc), with 10 or more full-time employees, will have to sort their recyclable waste from their residual waste.

The new legislation requires businesses to divide their waste into: • residual (non-recyclable) waste • food waste (mixed with garden waste, as appropriate) • paper and card • all other dry recyclable materials (such as plastics, metals and glass)

Waste handlers will need items to be sorted into groups before they collect. Specific instructions will vary according to the region in

which you live and what your waste collector expects. Businesses are encouraged to speak with their waste collector to establish any changes that the introduction of Simpler Recycling will have to their current waste collection arrangement.
