New season and a fresh start
The year seems to be flying by and we are into spring already. We certainly got away with a mild winter and the longer days, flowering daffodils, blooming tulips and blossoming trees herald a fresh start, as we can now look forward to some sunny days and warmer evenings once again. And as we return to the ‘new normal’ and get used to living with Covid, it certainly feels like we are finally making a fresh start at life as well, with pub lunches, evening meals and general socialising are all back on the menu. It also means we are able to confirm that this year’s DIY Week Awards will be going ahead as a live event, when on Friday 20th May the great and the good of the DIY, home improvement and
garden sector convene once again at the magnificent Tower Hotel in London, with its great food, fine wine and fabulous views of Tower Bridge and the River Thames. As I mentioned last month, the number and standard of entries this year was as high as ever, which gave our judges plenty to deliberate, but I’m sure you’ll agree all the winners are very worthy when they are finally announced. Of course to find who they are first you really need to be at the event and experience it live and there are a few tickets left, so be quick and visit the website at
www.diyweekawards.co.uk to avoid disappointment. You can learn what products and which companies have been shortlisted on page 20 of this issue. Elsewhere, we have been examining the latest in smart lighting and other connected home technology that is gaining in popularity, especially with the rises in energy costs. Check out why and what products you should consider stocking in our special feature on page 13 and make sure you are ‘on trend’ for the new season ahead.
