Get serious about safety

As the nights draw in and winter approaches, it provides the ideal opportunity to advise customers on how to prepare their properties for the wet and cold weather we can expect over the coming months. Helping them to understand what’s required and how to undertake these tasks in order to protect their homes and gardens isn’t just good customer service, it also offers the chance to sell them suitable products for the purpose. This issue we have some timely features designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to confidentially advise and support your customers. These include weatherproofing tips for buildings and outside areas, such as clearing gutters and ensuring windows are in good

condition in order to hopefully avoid costly repair bills later on. Sadly, this time of year is also one when homeowners need to become more mindful of home security. In fact, the latest Neighbourhood Watch Crime and Community Survey identified over two thirds of people are worried about becoming a victim of burglary. So this issue we examine how retailers can support their customers in supplying hardware and smart security systems from ERA that deliver the highest standards of protection and personalisation. Keeping our property safe is one thing, but at this time of year there are also very real dangers around for man’s best friend, so we have advice on what to look out for when walking the dog. And whilst we take care of ourselves, our property, our pets, our customers and our business, we mustn’t forget to also look after nature. This time of year can often prove a challenging environment in which to survive and thrive, so let’s also take care of the world around us.
