of workers’ minds. Wallpaper producer Grandeco now aims to reduce the threat of germs, disease and sickness spreading in both commercial and private spaces with the launch of a new self-disinfecting wallpaper.
Disinfectant coating At the base of the Pure & Protect technology wallpaper, is Nobacoat, an innovative, transparent disinfectant coating made by the Belgian company Sichem. The coating has been extensively tested and has already been used in various industries such as the automotive and construction, and has over 25 years of development to ensure effectiveness. Today it is applied to wallpaper. During the production process of the wallpaper, an additional positively charged coating is added to the wallpaper, this is in contrast to the negatively charged harmful particles in the air. As soon as air moves through the room due to movement, an open window or ventilation, bacteria, viruses and moulds are attracted by this coating and efficiently eliminated. The coating obtains an elimination rate of 99.9% in just one hour and stays effective for at least 12 years. Another USP is that this is a mechanical process and not chemical, making it completely safe to use.
The coating also adds to the surface abrasion resistance, meaning it can withstand regular wiping, scrubbing and is resilient to wear and tear. Due to its heavy duty nature, this wallpaper is ideal for the work and family environment. It will be a lifeline to areas that see a large amount of traffic and people in the space.
