EVENT PREVIEW: GLEE
EXPAND YOUR OFFER WITH NEW DIY EXHIBITORS AT GLEE
Glee gears up for the launch of a DIY sector at the show for the first time ever, with major brands on board and exciting new product categories available for visitors to browse at the 2023 event (27th – 29th June, NEC Birmingham).
E
nabling garden retailers to capitalise on emerging trends and diversify their offer, this welcome new addition to the
exhibition gives visitors access to a host of products that will help them to support customers in their outdoor and indoor DIY endeavours as never before. As an increasing number of consumers hone their DIY skills and tackle projects to update their outdoor and indoor spaces, Glee wants to make sure garden retailers are best placed to meet this shift in demand. The addition of a DIY sector
at this year’s show will help garden retailers create further opportunities with targeted products – from outdoor wood finishes to tools and accessories – that will complement and enhance their existing offer.
Creating opportunities The UK’s leading garden retail show, Glee brings together hundreds of exhibitors under one roof – showcasing thousands of ranges across 10 key sectors, including garden care, plants, home, gift and clothing, landscaping & decoration, and DIY – making it ideal for sourcing a diverse mix of product. With suppliers keen to sign up for the
new DIY area ahead of the June show, retailers will be in for a treat in June as they head to what has now been dubbed the ‘international festival for garden, leisure, and pet’. Already on board are major brands, such as Rustins, manufacturer of finishes, paints and performance cleaners, including Heat Resistant Black paint for BBQs, Masonry Paint, and Shed & Fence Clear; adhesive and sealant manufacturer Soudal, with products like Repair Express Cement, all-weather sealant and its Fix ALL range; and German portable light manufacturer, LEDLenser, with its range of torches, headlamps, and worklights. Other exciting additions
include Clever Paints, UK distributor of a range of innovative paint products by MagPaint Europe, and JPT Europe, which will be showcasing its Toy Steel collection of toolboxes.
Perfect timing With the show’s June timing, retail buyers will again benefit from the opportunity to preview new launches and place orders ahead of the upcoming gardening season. This is ideal for garden retailers reviewing ranges or looking to introduce new categories, like DIY, as the timing also enables buyers to better plan their strategies ahead of time to ensure they are meeting demand and tapping into key trends.

machinery needs in a relaxed environment. Handy staff will be on hand to advise retailers not only of the products available but also of the support provided, including drop ship opportunities and point of sale support, and Handy’s online portal for quick and easy access to spare parts; Handy carries over 70,000 spare part lines and has market leading availability thanks to its £6m+ stock commitment. Mark Moseley, Handy’s Sales & Marketing Director, comments on the change of direction for the company at this year’s Glee: “At previous shows, we have very much focussed on our extensive product
range, and we feel that the breadth and quality of our product lines are well understood. For 2023 we have chosen to change the emphasis to focus on the extensive support and service we have in place for retailers to help them get the most
out of our products, by meeting their customers’ diverse needs and maximising sales. Our experience, expert knowledge and dedicated customer service are central to this. We not only understand product but also the needs of retailers and their customers and it’s important for us to convey this. It’s equally important for us to listen to our customers, so the new lounge area on the Glee stands will enable a two-way discourse, in an informal setting.”
