Runners and riders revealed

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the DIY Week office, as we were waiting for the last few of this year’s DIY Week Awards entries to come in before checking them and preparing for the judging. We then held judging events for both the supplier and retailer categories, which promoted plenty of lively discussion and debate as usual. The standard of entries was as high as ever this year, with a wide variety of products submitted, which all then received the usual deep level of scrutiny from our panel of industry experts. The ingenuity and innovation shown by our industry never ceases to amaze me, with new tools, gadgets and devices still being developed in order to make DIY jobs easier and solve a range of problems and challenges.

The quality of other products put forward in the supplier category was also incredibly high, with overall performance, sustainability credentials and value for money all criteria being considered during their development, and also taken into account during the judging process. Entries in the retailer category also attracted a lot of attention from our judges, with companies in all the subcategories submitting detailed entries that impressed the panel and made choosing the finalists, let alone the winners, a very difficult job indeed. But after a few hours of thorough examination, the entries were narrowed down to a shortlist and the worthy winners have now been chosen. You can find out what products and which companies have made it through on page 10 of this issue, with the winners being revealed during a live awards lunch at the Tower Hotel in London on Friday 19th May. If last year’s event is anything to go by, it promises to be a fun and enjoyable occasion that’s not to be missed, so visit www.diyweekawards.co.uk to book your ticket and I’ll see you there!
