Garden furniture, grow your own and decorative garden structure specialist, ZEST has chosen the British Heart Foundation (BHF) as its charity of the year in 2022. This follows on from a successful two years of fundraising Macmillan Cancer Support in 2020 and 2021, which resulted in a grand total of £25,819.99. Alongside colleagues
from its fellow divisions in the P&A Group, Zest employees will be throwing themselves into everything from marathons to cake days to raffles to support the BHF, targeting an initial total of £10,000. Commenting on the announcement, Zest’s Managing Director, Steve Morgan said: “340,000 people in Wales alone are living with the daily burden of heart and circulatory diseases and at Zest, we like to raise money for great causes which really mean something to the team. I know this year will be no different and we’ve already had people signing up for the Manchester Marathon, 5K and 10K runs, daily exercise challenge, pledges to give up sweet treats for a month, virtual quiz nights and much more. We’re even hosting an event to throw wet sponges at the company directors for a fee!” Head of BHF Cymru, Adam Fletcher said: “Heart and circulatory diseases cause heartache on every street in Wales and around twenty-six deaths each day. With your help, we are determined to do all we can to save and improve lives. Your donations will power the science to help find the breakthroughs, treatments, and cures of the future. “With donations from the public, the BHF funds ground-breaking research that will get us closer than ever to a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. A world where broken hearts are mended, where millions more people survive a heart attack, where the number of people dying from or affected by a stroke is slashed in half. A world where people affected by heart and circulatory diseases get the support they need. And a world of cures and treatments we can’t even imagine today.” Over the last eleven years, Zest employees and their P&A Group colleagues have raised more than £100,000 for a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now. SIKA EVERBUILD, a leading manufacturer of building chemicals, is increasing the sustainability of its packaging by using repurposed or recycled plastic across its core product range.
The company is aiming to reduce its use of virgin plastic by embarking on a mass roll-out of new, more sustainable packaging which it anticipates will save
more than 400 tonnes of virgin plastic this year alone. The first phase focuses on some of Sika Everbuild’s most popular products, including its Stixall adhesive and Fastfix jointing compound, with a view to converting the packaging across more product ranges in due course. Customers will be able to easily identify the new packaging thanks to its dark grey colour. Sika Everbuild has also invested heavily in the sourcing and testing of the new packaging to ensure that the storage, usability and performance of its products continue to meet the highest standards. Sika Everbuild’s new packaging will be manufactured using a minimum content of 30 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, and the manufacturer is continuing to develop its packaging solutions, working with suppliers to increase this percentage in the future. The PCR plastic used is specifically the high-density polyethylene plastic which is commonly found in many consumer goods such as milk, shampoo and water containers, as well as sewer, water and gas pipes. Where PCR plastic isn’t available due to rising global demand, Sika Everbuild has put plans in place to use post-industrial recycled (PIR) plastic if necessary. Although not recycled, it would otherwise be sent to landfill and using PIR plastic as an alternative to virgin plastic reduces the company’s reliance on raw plastic. FEBRUARY 2022 DIY WEEK 31
From 14 February we are pleased to announce that BOND IT have acquired the sole distribution rights for the market leading Geo- Fix All Weather and Geo- Fix Original Paving Jointing Compounds.
When Geo-Fix Original was first brought to
market 25 years ago, the paving industry was a completely different landscape compared to today. With traditional cementitious jointing products causing huge problems for Local Authorities and contractors, it soon became clear that an alternative solution was required. After listening to the needs of the paving industry, Geo-Fix developed a new technology using sand polymers to create Geo-Fix Original brush-in jointing compound – a truly original product that revolutionised traditional jointing methods. In 2013, the range was enhanced to include Geo-Fix All Weather jointing compound, a superior brush-in sand that can be used in all weathers, and now offer a selection of beautiful coloured sands to complement all designs and tastes. Geo-Fix is a ready mixed jointing that is simply brushed and compacted in to joints with minimal effort. Available in two versions, Original in 20kg buckets in Buff and Grey and All Weather in 14kg buckets in Stone, Mid Grey, Anthracite, Graphite and Slate Grey. Bond It are a British manufacturer with 20 years’ experience

John Andrews Director of Geo- Fix stated; “We are delighted to be working with Bond It to distribute the Geo-Fix range, the team are committed to providing exceptional products and service and I am confident together we will produce even greater opportunities for our customers.”
