Fiona Garcia sits down with Robert Dyas senior trader Andrew Georgiou to talk a bout the retailer’ s success with new ca tegories, the importance of choosing the right products, and why he’s loving life after Homebase.

ndrew Georgiou joined Robert Dyas – part of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group – in June 2015 and says he
“hasn’t looked back” since making the move. Having spent 15 years at Homebase in a variety of buying roles, Andrew’s decision to move on may have surprised some at the Week, he feels
time but, he tells DIY We eek he has really found a home at Dyas 14 DIY WEEK 9 FEBRUARY 2018
and relishes the new challenges and opportunities his current role presents. “I had been tracking Dyas for some time and really liked the company,” he explains. “I have soy,,”heexp much respect for Theo [Paphitis] – he’s a great guy and I love the way he runs this business.”

During his time with Homebase, Andr ew was tasked with buying acr oss a wide variety of categories, including hardwar e, tools and power tools, lighting, small
domestic appliances, security and, in his senior r oles at the home improvement chain, was also responsible for the introduction of new product categories and the management of in-store concessions. This vast experience has proved following
invaluable Andrew’s
move to Dyas, wher e the general merchandise retailer – bought by Theo Paphitis in July 2012 – has ventured into a number of new categories over the past year

including smart home and home furnishings. The new launches have been hailed a great
success and

A digital marketing campaig n to promote the category received a huge response on Tw
