Centurion and Doncaster Dons celebrate 10 years working in partnership

“We are based in Bentley near to where Tattersfield Stadium stood and the Dons have a special place in our hearts. Many of the members of staff at Centurion are fans of the team and remember passing the stadium every day on their way to work. Many continue to support the Dons at Keepmoat Stadium.

This year Centurion Europe and Doncaster RLFC celebrate their 10-year anniversary. Centurion’s sponsorship of “the Dons” commenced in 2007 and this is an opportunity to look back on the respective success and achievements of the partnership as well as looking forward to the future. Centurion Europe CEO, Paul Kantecki, said there was no question whether Centurion would continue to support Doncaster RLFC:

“In the past 10 years both Centurion and the Dons have enjoyed achievements and reached many milestones. “We’re excited to see what the future has in store and will continue to work together and build on our successes.” As part of the continued commitment to Doncaster Dons and Rugby League, the two have been working together to promote the sport in local schools through the delivery of the RFL Sky Try programme. Sky Try is

all about helping more children enjoy Rugby League and the sessions, run by Club Doncaster Foundation coaching staff, have seen children from local schools given the opportunity to enjoy taking part in rugby league based activities and competitions. The aspiration is that the

children will benefit and enjoy their rugby league taster as well as taking part in group sport and developing their overall skillset. A number of children whose schools took part in the programme were lucky enough to be treated to a VIP trip to a recent Doncaster Dons game. The coaching staff and teachers selected players based on how well they had developed over the course of the delivery and each selected child got a ticket for themselves and their parent/ guardian. Kelly Jackson (Club Doncaster Foundation schools coordinator) commented: “The Sky Try programme allows children in the borough of

Doncaster to participate in rugby lessons. The children not only get to try this fantastic sport but also get to meet Dons players and coaches.

“The partnership work with Centurion has enabled some children to watch Rugby League (some for the first time) from the comfort of the executive box, which adds so much to their overall experience.”

Carl Hall, Dons chief executive, added: “It’s great to work with Club Doncaster Foundation, Centurion and the RFL to bring Rugby League to more children across Doncaster. “This type of programme enables us to use the platform we have as a club to inspire the next generation of Rugby League players.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations Centurion produced t-shirts branded with both the Dons and Doncaster Rovers alongside its own 10-year anniversary logo; these were

presented to the children who attended the Dons game. “We are committed to helping the Dons grow and want to promote Rugby League as a sport that brings communities together,” said Kantecki. “Whether it’s playing rugby or supporting your local team, Rugby League has a host of benefits for young and old alike. It is important to give special thanks to Doncaster Dons supporters who continue to get behind the team, win or lose.”
