Postcard from The Big Apple Two members of the Brookes & Co team are now back from a working trip to New York to link up with Manhattan-based creative and digital agency, Bandujo. The connection is a joint


affiliation with Staffordshire University’s BA


Honours


Advertising and Brand Management course (Account Director, Sam Owen is also an Associate Industry lecturer at the University). Each year, the students undertake a ‘real life’ creative assignment and this year the brief was to devise a campaign to improve the recruitment of ethnic minorities into the NYPD. Sam, along with our client services director, Michele Rastall, accompanied the five teams of students to New York to present their creative solutions to senior staff at Bandujo.


Commenting on the trip, Sam said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved and we are both delighted and proud that Brookes & Co are working with Staffordshire University to help provide course input, work experience and initiatives such as this one with Bandujo”.


Are you on the case for GLEE? Unbelievably, it’s that time again! We’re getting ready for another year at Glee. From the 11th- 13th September, we’ll be on hand at the NEC, supporting many of our clients for whom attendance at the annual garden and leisure show is a must. The PR and marketing opportunities are already coming thick and fast, so it’s worth checking that you are not missing out. From our point of view, it is a fantastic opportunity to get our clients and their products or services in front of the gardening and DIY media. It gives us the chance to introduce important journalists to our clients face-to-face and allows those journalists to get ‘hands-on’ with products. We’re already writing Glee


preview press releases, preparing artwork for press day invitations, managing our clients’ online presence on the Glee website and planning media interviews. It won’t be long before we’re preparing press packs and optimising the many other PR opportunities that Glee itself provides. In short, making sure that everyone who is anyone in the sector knows our clients are at the show!


The next couple of months will be


busy, but our extensive experience within the sector – as well as our many trips to Glee over the years – puts us, and our clients, in good stead for a successful show!
