“There is every chance you will end up thinking it’s the best thing you ever did”

Founded in 1874

As you may have noticed from our reecent ads, the venue has been announced for the 2019 DIY Week Awards. We are back in London again, with the lunchtime event taking place next year at the Tower Hotel on Friday, May 10. Fingers crossed, we will have a good weather again, as I understand there is a nice outdoor bar for enjoying a drink in the sun but, more importantly, it should make for a stunning view out over the Thames and Tower Bridge during our drinks’ reception. I know that may all seem quite a way off, as we hunker down in preparation for the artic that is apparently on its way, and the white Christmas that is promised every year (but eludes me every year in Surrey). However, if you want to be in with a chance to win a DIY Week Award and attend the

prestigious event, you need to start thinking about it now because the deadline isn’t far away and we want another host of fantastic entries to wow our judging panels this year. I know it’s a busy time and you are likely to have all sorts of plates in the air and deadlines to meet but don’t let your opportunity go by because you couldn’t find time. Believe me, I’ve spoken to enough people over the years who have been left kicking themselves wishing they’d entered. It’s unlikely that you will ever think “I wish I hadn’t put my business, team, or product

forward for an award” but there is every chance you will end up thinking it was the best thing you ever did. Don’t just take my word for it; read some of the fantastic comments we have had from our winners in this issue and on www.diyweekawards.co.uk. And, honestly, these comments are just a small sample of the incredible feedback we get every year from people who have seen their win create real opportunities for them and open doors they never expected – not to mention singling their company or brand out as the best in their field. We all work hard and the market is a tough place for everyone at the moment but I know

there are some brilliant innovations and retailers out there who are helping to keep home improvement and garden retailing interesting, so don’t stand in the shadows, this could be your moment to get the recognition you deserve.
