A Perry Launches PerryShield The Solution for Fire Door Compliance

A range that is ever-more important in this current safety-aware climate, A. Perry’s newly-launched high-quality CE marked and CERTIFIRE Rated PerryShield collection comprises essential fire-resistant door hardware and intumescent kits.

Fire door ironmongery, such as hinges, locks and latches should be CE marked and CERTIFIRE approved and are vital to the fire resistance performance of the door assembly.

The new PerryShield range

provides the perfect solution for merchants, architects, designers, manufacturers, builders and installers by delivering a complete, integrated CE-marked and CERTIFIRE approved range of fire door fittings, ironmongery and intumescent hinge and lock packs.

PerryShield Fire Door Hinges The new PerryShield range of graded hinges, in multiple finishes and materials, suit every application, from heavy commercial to light domestic use. Essential to ensuring there is no

compromise to fire door integrity in an emergency, hinges must comply to annex B of BS EN 1935. All the new PerryShield range fire door hinges are CE marked and CERTIFIRE rated, and are available with a fire rating of either 30, 60, 120 minutes. The Grade 7 CE marked and CERTIFIRE Approved hinges are suitable for doors weighing up to 40kg with the Grade 13 suitable for doors weighing up to 120kg. Fire rated hinges are important to achieve integrity of a fire door. The recommendation is a minimum of three hinges are used when installing a fire door, with the grade of hinge dictated by the weight of the fire door being fitted.

PerryShield Fire Rated Locks and Latches

An integral part of the new PerryShield range is the premium tubular mortice latches, fire rated and CERTIFIRE approved for up to 30 minutes, 3 lever Sashlocks and 3 lever deadlocks fire rated and CERTIFIRE approved for up to 60 minutes. They are essential to help prevent the spread of fire by ensuring the door remains closed in its frame in the event of a fire. All locks and latches in the PerryShield range, mortice or tubular, comply with BS EN 12209, are CE marked and are CERTIFIRE approved. These may be lockable or un-lockable types, depending on door requirements. Continuing the ethos of supplying only high-quality products, PerryShield latch mechanisms are tested to over 200,000 cycles.

PerryShield Intumescent Protection Kits Each time a fire door is cut to fit a hinge, lock or latch, a weakness is created. This can mean up to four weakened points in a door, which could allow a fire to take hold. Any ironmongery installed on a fire door must be fitted without compromising the integrity of the fire door assembly.

This is of particular importance where ironmongery is rebated into the door set, such as hinges, locks and latches. The use of a PerryShield Intumescent Kit helps protects these weak points and maintain the doors integrity. The kits are made from a sheet of an ultra-thin and flexible high performance intumescent material. This 0.8mm intumescent sheet contains intercalated graphite which will provide up to 60 minutes of fire protection and offers high levels of expansion and insulation, preventing heat transfer when fitted on ironmongery rebated into timber doorsets. Each kit is pre-cut to the right dimensions, for quick, clean and easy fitting, matching accurately the hinge, latch or lock it is designed for. All intumescent products in the PerryShield Range are unaffected by moisture, humidity, atmospheric pollution or common industrial and household chemical substances. All have been extensively tested to the latest British/European Standards BS.476 Part 22: 1987 30/60 min rated & BS EN 1634-1:2014 30/60 min.

Used in multiple layers, the kits can provide protection up to 240 minutes on certain elements of a fire door.
