hen the market is as tough as it currently is, it was amazing and heart-warming to see that so many people from merchants and suppliers
across the sector were prepared to down tools for a day of celebration.
The BMJ Industry Awards 2026 which took place at the end of last month was, like all its previous incarnations, a glorious mixture of fun and friendship, celebration and camaraderie. It’s the event where the winners are decided by customers, suppliers, colleagues and peers, and is about rewarding and revelling in everything that is great and good about working in building materials. It’s a times like this that you realise the truth in the phrase ‘ people buy from people’ , and that this is an industry truly fuelled by the strength of its relationships.
The new venue did us proud, the surprise entertainment had everyone in full voice, and our host Jon Culshaw had the audience in stitches.
Congratulations to all of the companies and people who were nominated and voted for, and got to take home one of our shiny trophies for display in the reception area, the boardroom or even on the mantlepiece at home.
It was a fabulous event, and I look forward to welcoming you all next September, when we can do it all over again.
