Buildbase support Royal British Legion with Union Jack Teletruk
Buildbase has taken delivery of a specially-commissioned JCB Teletruk featuring a patriotic ‘Union Jack’ paint finish, supplied by APC Forks, operator of the largest hire fleet of JCB Teletruks in the UK. Each year APC commissions a Teletruk with a unique livery and donates a percentage of the truck’s hire fee to charity. This year The Royal British Legion will benefit.
The ‘Union Jack’ Teletruk is in operation at Buildbase’s five-acre Stoke-on-Trent facility where it undertakes a range of handling duties and replaces a machine that had been working at the Stoke- on-Trent site for 14 years.
APC Forks sales director, Stuart Hunter, comments: “All hire profits from Buildbase’s ‘Union Jack’ Teletruk will go to The Royal British Legion and help to support the excellent work that that organisation does.”
The JCB Teletruk’s unique features and benefits make it the perfect partner for builders’ merchants such as Buildbase.
a tremendous achievement. Kent Blaxill have always been keen to support this initiative.
“We hope to be able to provide ongoing support for many years to come.”

Community rallies to build sensory garden for Sunderland Community Group
A Sunderland-based community group is celebrating the completion of its new sensory garden, which was built with the help of volunteers from across the region and builders’ merchant Jewson.
Include ‘In’ Autism provides support and services for children, young people and adults with autism, and their families, across the North East of England. In July 2018, the charity was awarded £4,000 of building materials by Jewson as part of its Building Better Communities initiative.
Using those supplies, the organisation has created a safe and calming outdoor environment where children can learn new skills and interact with one another. This includes a ‘buddy bench’, where children can sit when they need someone to talk to, and a sensory garden to stimulate their minds.
Wat-er result! Funraising effort tops £2 million
Colleagues and customers of Travis Perkins Plumbing & Heating Division, are celebrating after their fundraising efforts saw a massive £2 million donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
From running and raft races to golf days and gala dinners, the team took part in group and individual events across
50
the country, culminating in the division-wide ‘Have your Cake and Eat It’ bake sale, which added more than £8,500 to the fundraising pot in just one day! Andrew Harrison, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Plumbing and Heating Division, said, “We couldn’t be prouder to have worked in partnership
with the Teenage Cancer Trust to reach this £2m milestone. It shows what fantastic things can be achieved when the colleagues and customers of City Plumbing and Plumbing Trade Supplies work together.
“The collective funds raised
over the past 7 years are potentially life changing for all the young people who have needed support from the charity. We’re humbled to have been able to help and plans are already in place to continue adding to the figure throughout the next year.” £2 million is enough to maintain all of the Teenage Cancer Trusts hospital units for two years, including ongoing maintenance and repairs, or cover the cost of all of their expert nurses for almost 12 months.
