All round winner in aesthetics

A new round cassette is proving particularly helpful in spaces with high or exposed ceilings offering benefits where the aesthetics of the installation are important such as in cafes, restaurants, high-end retail stores and hotels with trendy interiors

A

s a winner of the 2019 Red Dot Design Award , the LG Round Cassette has received significant praise from the judges who said: “The design of this air conditioning system has placed special emphasis on projecting an elegant design and easy installation. Its flat, round body and diamond-shaped openings turn the device into a spatial object with a strong character that sets accents in modern living environments. Tubes and pipes are integrated into a single installation cover, which greatly simplifies the installation of the air conditioning system on the ceiling.”

As the award statement suggests bundling the drain-pipe and the refrigerant pipe together in one place reduces installation time. Also, the control box for this new cassette

allows for the power supply cables to be fitted from the side of the unit. Unnecessary complications in installation are a thing of the past.

By reducing the depth of the product – the three sizes available are all just 330mm deep – this new cassette maximises on the openness of the available space once it has been installed. Hangar covers also provide a more refined aesthetic to installations. This new unit is said to offer powerful and quiet air flow.

Its 3D fan increases airflow by 5% over traditional 4-way cassettes and noise reduction technology makes for a quieter more comfortable space – with sound levels of 39dB(a) and is supplied with a deodorising filter as standard. These new cassettes connect to the entire LG Multi V outdoor product range and are available in the UK now.

NEW AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM PUTS COMFORT FIRST E

thical cosmetics retailer Lush is able to deliver energy efficient air conditioning to employees at its new office space in Poole thanks to the installation of Mitsubishi Electric’s City Multi VRF heat recovery system. Lush expanded its business with a new unit at Dolphin Quays, a complex made up of both residential apartments and office spaces. The units came equipped with running water and electricity, but Lush needed comfort for employees, including air conditioning, to be installed.

The solution came in the form of 12 ceiling- suspended City Multi VRF indoor units and one floor-positioned unit, installed by Modern Facilities Services, a Mitsubishi Electric Accredited Installer. The system is able to move excess heat, generated from an area which is being cooled, to

other parts of the building which need heating, helping to deliver the high levels of efficiency that Lush required. The City Multi system also offers energy saving performance, advanced control system and flexibility of design for specifiers and installers. The long pipe-runs and ability to connect up to 50 indoor units to one outdoor condenser means that it offers advanced, controllable energy efficient comfort to suit almost any building. Krystal James, project co-ordinator at Lush, said: “We wanted a system that would create a pleasant working environment for our staff, whilst fitting comfortably into the office environment. We also wanted to make sure we avoided any draughts for our employees.”

Two Lossnay Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) units were also installed at the

site in order to remove stale air from the office. The units operate by capturing up to 80% of the temperature of the outgoing air, meaning less energy is needed to bring fresh outdoor air up to the indoor temperature.

There were a number of challenges during the installation which Mitsubishi Electric and Modern Facilities Services were able to overcome, including the need to create additional frameworks for the units to sit on and working with a large amount of existing pipework at the site.
