Navigator MSL launches new Shock Arrestor

N

avigator MSL has launched its latest addition to its range of plumbing accessories – a new Shock Arrestor. It’s the optimum new mini expansion vessel that eliminates water hammer in heating and plumbing systems.

Sold under the MidBrass brand name the Shock Arrestor is a mini expansion vessel manufactured from high grade

304 stainless steel and incorporates a WRAS approved EPDM membrane rubber diaphragm. It’s rigorously tested for endurance and carries a three-year peace of mind warranty. It has been designed to operate comfortably at temperatures found in normal domestic heating systems – between minus 10 and plus100 degrees C. It reduces pipe noise and the risk of damage to system components.

This unit should be fitted in close proximity to any appliance with rapid shut off valves and is suitable for potable water supplies. It may provide a solution for installations of combi and system boilers, washing machines, showers, dishwashers and taps. Product specifications, including pressure ratings and pre charge pressure are etched into the surface of the arrestor so installers can quickly check that it is suitable for the intended system.

All enclosed water systems have the potential to create a ‘water hammer’ effect in pipework where there is a sudden or repeated shut off. The MB shock arrestor is the answer to this problem. Take a closer look at www.navigatormsl.com

Breathing Buildings offers new CIBSE- approved CPD

B

reathing Buildings has announced that its ‘Ventilation for Education and Commercial Buildings’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course is now approved by CIBSE.

The course is designed to give attendees a better understanding of the different ventilation strategies that can be used in education and commercial buildings, with a focus on natural, hybrid and hybrid heat recovery technology, and why these systems are needed under current building regulations.

The Breathing Buildings ‘Ventilation for Education and Commercial Buildings’ CPD therefore provides delegates with a greater understanding of: • The basics of natural ventilation • Mixing ventilation • New hybrid heat recovery and mixing systems • Current requirements and legislation affecting buildings • Ventilation strategies • Examples of natural ventilation applications.

Within the one-hour CPD delegates will have the opportunity to find out more about the next generation of sustainable hybrid ventilation with heat recovery, such as the company’s NVHRe - Natural Ventilation with Heat Recycling and Heat Recovery. This is timely since the CPD comes as CIBSE introduced a mandatory requirement from 2024 for members to undertake CPD courses around sustainability and safety. https://www.breathingbuildings.com/knowledge/seminars-cpds/

Dunstaple Farm first to use Panasonic’s 20HP Sustainable Cold Chain Condensing Unit outside of Japan

D

unstaple Farm, based near Holsworthy in Devon, home

of the award-winning Farmer Tom’s Ice Cream, sought to replace their existing freezer system with a more reliable, sustainable and energy efficient solution to reduce their carbon footprint and increase productivity. A Panasonic 20HP cold chain solution that utilises the natural refrigerant R744 (CO2), was specified - the first of its kind in the UK and outside of Japan - installed by experienced and cooling specialists, Keep It Cool Refrigeration, along with the support of the Panasonic team and Mervin Chumun, technical & applications Manager for distributors Hawco.

As the ice cream business has expanded, Dunstaple Farm extended its cold room facilities 18 months ago, installing two Panasonic 10HP LT CO2 systems into their new low temperature ice cream cold store. Impressed with the energy efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the Panasonic units, it was decided to replace another low temperature system used for “blast freezing” the ice cream with a similar unit. Tom James of Dunstaple Farm added, “The new 20HP Panasonic unit has not only helped to increase our energy efficiency but has additionally increased our productivity by reducing the time it takes to freeze the ice cream by as much as six hours each day.”

Conex Bänninger introduces compatible Y-joint for >B< MaxiPro installations

C

onex Bänninger revolutionised pipe jointing for air conditioning and refrigeration applications by introducing its >B< MaxiPro press fit solution to the market. Its latest innovation is >B< Flow – a customised Y-Joint – which is fully compatible with >B< MaxiPro.

The male ends of the >B< Flow have been designed to be fully congruent with >B< MaxiPro, meaning installers will no longer need to adapt ‘Y’ pieces by creating braze tails off-site.

Mike Lucken, technical sales manager - ACR for Conex Bänninger, commented: “>B< Flow is an important addition to our product portfolio, offering installers several key features and benefits. It has been designed and stringently tested to deliver an improved and balanced flow inside the >B< Flow joint and, in achieving this, the level of turbulence and noise is reduced. In addition, a guaranteed equal distribution of refrigerant is conveyed through both legs, providing optimum performance. “The >B< Flow, which comes with pre-moulded insulation, is an assured performer operating with a 3 times safety factor of 48 bar working pressure.” >B< MaxiPro is quick and easy to install, thereby significantly improving productivity through greatly reduced installation time. Large commercial installations such as hotels and hospitals, may involve thousands of metres of piping and the resulting cost savings can be considerable. Operating up to 48 bar, the product delivers a reliable, repeatable, permanent, tamper-proof joint every time.
