NIBE heat pumps futureproof historic England building
L
ea Hall is a Grade II*listed property, built in the 1400’s and set in 49 acres on the edge of Hatfi eld Heath. When the
site was purchased in 2017 by developer AJ Wadhams, the goal was to transform Lea Hall into an environmentally friendly, future-proof living and working space, whilst respecting its heritage.
The solution
A vital part of Lea Hall’s environmental upgrade included improving the heating and hot water for the building’s vast seven- bedroom space. NIB Pro installers, Delta Mechanical, was enlisted to design and install a GSHP system - a NIBE F1345 40KW, which comes equipped with compressor modules that automatically switch on and off . This ensures better output regulation, a longer operating range, less wear and tear and high reliability. A 500-litre buff er vessel and 700-litre hot
water tank was also installed to provide plenty of hot water all year round, combined with the
underfl oor heating and radiator set-up. NIBE’s Smart Controls were also fi tted, to ensure optimum comfort for residents while further enhancing energy effi ciency. All NIBE S-Series heat pumps link to its myUplink app, which allows remote installer access, with automatic alerts should any issues arise. As well as the main building, the wider scheme also includes seven Grade II listed barn conversions, refurbishment of a cottage and fi ve new build unit, all of which will have NIBE F2040 ASHPs installed.

Testimonial
Will Blair, Delta Mechanical UK Ltd, said: “Lea Hall presented a great opportunity to showcase how heat pumps are suitable for both new and existing properties, regardless of their age or energy effi ciency rating.” “With such a large property to heat, NIBE was the best solution on the market, providing high-end, quality products for Lea Hall. The heat pump will deliver low carbon, sustainable heat for the entire seven-bedroom property through a mixture of underfl oor heating and radiators - working in such a breathtaking property was a pleasure.”
