S&P UK

S&P UK has launched Mellizo, the quietest and most efficient twin fan it has ever made following years of research and development. Designed for environments including bathrooms and changing rooms, Mellizo benefits from optimal efficiency, an innovative design, and the lowest Specific Fan Power possible. Spanish for ‘twin’ to reflect S&P Group’s heritage, Mellizo’s twin fan design provides uninterrupted ventilation and saves energy in line with Building Regulations.

Sales director Lee Page said: “We’ve channelled our collective S&P expertise to create Mellizo – an unrivalled twin fan that we believe cannot be beaten on noise, efficiency or value. “Mellizo is versatile, eco-friendly, efficient, and extremely quiet. We’re confident it will quickly become the market leader.” Mellizo is designed for simple indoor and external installation with horizontal or vertical mounting. S&P UK Ventilation Systems is the UK subsidiary of Soler and Palau.

TITON

Incorporated in 1972 following the creation of the first Titon product, a window casement stay, John Anderson created Titon Hardware from his garden shed in Feering, Essex.

Fifty years later, Titon Hardware has gone from strength to strength and is now a market leader of window and door hardware and ventilation products.

Titon’s products range from its signature Trimvent background ventilator (made and patented by John Anderson in 1973) to window handles, locking systems and hinge systems as well as powered ventilation products including whole house systems and extract fans.

Titon also invests heavily in R&D, which enables the company to use the latest technology to keep its products both innovative and cost effective. Its products are sold into a range of European markets and the USA market is supplied through a wholly owned subsidiary, Titon Inc. Since 2008, Titon has been in a joint venture with a partner in South Korea, where it has its own manufacturing facilities in Seoul. www.titon.com

SANIFLO UK

Saniflo UK recently helped London landmark the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the iconic Southbank Centre improve its facilities to provide staff and visitors with a better experience.

Earlier this year, the team running the venue agreed that the venue’s WCs were not ideally located as clients and staff alike had to descend a winding staircase back to the Royal Festival Hall in the main building of the Southbank Centre.

Eleven London was contracted to construct a wooden toilet block with two separate WCs and hand basins. With no gravity drainage available in proximity of the new block, a pumping solution was the only solution to discharge the waste away to the nearest soil stack some 40m away. Richard Riley from Eleven London said a Sanicubic Pro 2 lifting station with twin pumps and a wireless alarm was agreed with Saniflo UK. This would easily cope with the volume and would provide continuity of operation at all times.

TOSHIBA

Great Yarmouth’s new £26m Water and Leisure Centre, recently opened on the resort’s Golden Mile, is benefiting from outstanding indoor comfort thanks to a high-performance Toshiba heat recovery VRF air conditioning. The high-efficiency Toshiba system was chosen to meet the project’s sustainability requirements, and serves the centre’s pool and water facilities, 100-station health and fitness gym, sports hall with climbing zone, and café with views over Great Yarmouth beach.

Based on a combination of Toshiba’s three-pipe SHRM-e and two-pipe SMMS-u VRF systems, the HVAC system is designed to deliver maximum energy efficiency and optimise the centre’s indoor climate. Due to the coastal location, outdoor condensers are treated with an epoxy coating to protect against corrosion.

The system achieves an European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER) of 8 and above in most capacities, an industry first, and an ESEER exceeding 7 for all capacities.

STELRAD

Low surface temperature (LST) radiators from the Stelrad range have been incorporated at Castlestead View, a new Extra-Care development in Oxenholme in Cumbria near the Lake District National Park. In all there are more than 450 Stelrad LST radiators of varying sizes in the one and two- bedroom apartments and the bungalows that form this development which has been designed to provide fully accessible facilities for both residents and visitors. This includes a café/bistro, hair salon, residents’ lounge, activity room, buggy store, guest suite and communal gardens.

Stelrad’s Head of Marketing Chris Harvey says: “LST radiators offer a safe means of heating homes and buildings where young, old and vulnerable people who may be susceptible to burns from conventional radiators live and congregate. It’s a straightforward, ‘no brainer’ response to a lot of environments where safety is the key at the design stage.” www.stelrad.com

BAPI

It is important to achieve good indoor air quality and all ventilation systems rely on the sensor to provide information, so informed decisions can be made on the buildings operation.

When your air quality sensor is not working properly, it means the building management system and ventilation are not working effectively or employee’s productivity is greatly affected.

The majority of CO2 sensors use Single Beam Technology and this type of sensor requires annual calibration (When did you last calibrate your CO2 sensors?). These are NOT suitable for 24/7 applications such as hospitals, hotels and 24hr supermarkets as they

need to reset back to the factory base level every 24hrs and will switch off for a number of hours to achieve this.

BAPI’s CO2 & VOC sensors use the latest technology meaning they can be used in any application including (24/7) and are guaranteed to provide accurate measurements for 5 Years. www.bapihvac.com
