he hospitality industry in the United Kingdom is largely represented by the country’s hotels, pubs, restaurants and leisure companies and


they all require reliable levels of heating and hot water. This is where the latest commercial boilers come to the fore. Throughout the hotel and leisure sector, from suburban guest houses to country house hotels with large leisure complexes, each application has to deal with differing levels of demand for hot water, coupled with the need to maintain guests’ comfort. In fact, heating and hot water systems are essential to any hospitality business – consuming more than 40% of the energy used in the average non-domestic building. That means ample saving opportunities are available, without compromising the all-important comfort and wellbeing of customers and visitors. Given the importance of heating and hot water in hotel and leisure applications, energy efficiency is vital, especially in terms of keeping costs and environmental impact at a minimum. and water costs can have a big impact on a business’s profit margin, so utilising modern commercial boilers makes sound economic sense. Indeed, replacing outdated, wasteful and inefficient

to ensure the water inside the heat exchanger remains in a turbulent state. This removes any insulating barrier between the heated water and the wall of the heat exchanger – allowing a rapid and efficient transfer of heat. As water is moved around inside a small closed system, it does not expend a lot of energy, with the turbulent flow helping to preserve the lifespan of the heat exchanger itself by reducing the build-up of any precipitates on the heat transfer surface. The latest commercial boilers, including ATAG Commercial’s own XL-W and XL-F ranges, benefit from intelligent built-in, modulating pumps, which constantly monitor the flow rate, enabling the heat exchanger to reach and maintain set-point temperature, while also minimising energy input. Plus, higher flow and transfer rates ensure a boiler reaches its maximum temperature quicker; once this has been achieved, it can then modulate down accordingly. So, the latest commercial boilers offer a wealth of benefits, whatever the size and purpose of their application.
