ACV UK opens Expert Academy Training & Technology Centre
A
CV UK, a specialist in hot water and heating solutions, has launched an Expert Academy Training and Technology Centre at its headquarters in Dalgety Bay, Fife, Scotland.
This state-of the-art facility is designed to equip customers with the skills needed to install, maintain and service hot water and heating products. The new centre off ers engineers, installers, and service engineers a range of accredited courses, with a strong focus on low-carbon solutions, including heat pump training. Equipped with purpose-built workshops and spacious classroom, the new facility also provides attendees with the chance to gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies in both domestic and commercial hot water and heating products from Groupe Atlantic UK.
Charlie Newell, director & general manager - ACV UK, said: “As the market continues to evolve and the demand for sustainable heating and hot water solutions continues to grow, investing in training and education has never been more important. By equipping the next generation of professionals with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to support this change, our new Expert Academy Training and Technology Centre will help to support the future of the industry”. Andrew Johnson, training and design services director added: “The launch of the Dalgety Bay centre reinforces our ongoing commitment to advancing industry skills and supporting professionals in the heating and hot water industry.”

Next-generation smart metering puts heat network residents in control
S
witch2 Energy, has launched the G10 Smart Metering Hub – its most advanced smart metering system yet – designed to improve effi ciency, transparency, and cost savings for UK heat networks. The next-generation device introduces a new standard in heat network technology, giving residents greater convenience and control over their energy use while providing landlords and operators with powerful tools to optimise heat network performance. It is designed to give customers on residential heat networks the equivalent experience to those with direct gas and electricity.
Featuring real-time monitoring, improved data accuracy, and fl exible payment options, the G10 ensures fair and transparent billing, helping to reduce waste and drive cost savings.
With an intuitive touchscreen display, residents can easily navigate their energy usage, check their balance, and access smart budgeting tools to help them stay in control of their heating costs.
The patent-pending smart metering hub also introduces a contactless top-up via NFC, allowing payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay, alongside multiple other payment options and includes real-time tariff and credit management, all remotely controlled. Richard Harrison, CEO of Switch2 Energy, said: “The G10 puts power back into the hands of residents and landlords – giving them real-time visibility of their energy use. At the same time, it enables heat network operators to drive effi ciency, access real world data, reduce waste, and improve overall system performance.”

Low carbon-emissions recycled & renewably produced steel
N
uaire has announced that its Magnelis® steel-based ventilations systems are now being made from XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. Nuaire is the fi rst UK ventilation
manufacturer to switch to this innovative steel, which will result in a 64% reduction in CO2 emissions on these products within the fi rst year alone, compared with the same steel manufactured via the conventional steelmaking route. Products to benefi t from the transition to XCarb® steel include Nuaire’s industry leading BPS air handling units and XBOXER XBC packaged heat recovery systems.
For customers, this transition to a lower carbon-emissions steel has only positive benefi ts; the quality of Nuaire’s products will remain as before, with the additional benefi t of helping to reduce embodied carbon within buildings. Embodied carbon - the carbon emissions associated with the material extraction and manufacture, construction, maintenance, refurbishment, and demolition of a building - makes up 20% of the UK built environment’s emissions. To reduce this, we need to use less materials in building design, and those materials that are required should be low carbon wherever possible. Magnelis made with XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel has an embodied carbon footprint of just 0.898 tCO2e/t of material, which is considerably lower than the 2.51tCO2e/t of material of the steel previously used, meaning Nuaire’s ventilation systems manufactured with this innovative steel help reduce a building’s embodied carbon.

Free commissioning for Stratton Mk3 Boilers
H
amworthy Heating, technical experts in commercial heating and hot water products, has announced
a new off er for 2025: free commissioning on all Stratton Mk3 wall-hung condensing boilers.
This free commissioning promotion applies to all Stratton Mk3 models
ordered between April 1 and invoiced by December 31, 2025, and off ers customers the opportunity to optimise their system’s performance from the outset. For added peace of mind, each boiler is also backed by a 5-year warranty.
The Stratton Mk3 range incorporates advanced stainless steel heat exchanger technology, ensuring exceptional durability and system tolerance. Available in seven models with outputs ranging from 40kW to 150kW, single units can also be cascaded to meet higher demands or larger installations. Ideal for refurbishment and retrofi t projects, the Stratton Mk3 features a 5:1 turndown ratio and low Class 6 NOx emissions across all models, delivering up to 97% gross seasonal effi ciency. Its compact, lightweight design is also perfect for space-constrained plant rooms. With models up to 70kW measuring just 487mm wide, 577mm deep, and 764mm high, the Stratton Mk3 wall-hung condensing boiler off ers a smaller footprint than many other models on the market. When fi tted to a Hamworthy Heating’s low-height frame and header kit, the Stratton Mk3 provides the most compact cascade confi guration available for outputs from 40kW to 70kW. *Terms and conditions – visit the Hamworthy Heating website for information.
