AERMEC

Fan coil manufacturer Aermec has unveiled a new fan coil unit that only uses three water pipes and is aimed at helping customers achieve near zero energy buildings. The 3WP system provides the advantages of refrigerant-based VRF systems with four-pipe hydronic FCUs. Two and four-pipe hydronic HVAC systems are widely used, but Aermec’s three-pipe system uses less pipework, requires less investment and reduces the costs of installation. The 3WP offers a cost-effective HVAC solution as one of the key benefits is that it offers greater flexibility in system capacity and distances. It is also easier to design and repair which reduces costs. The 3WP system ranges from 40kW to 400kW in a single unit and up to 950kW in a cascade. The system’s internal heat exchangers operate on an extra elevated high ∆T and a significantly reduced mass flow. Performance and efficiency has increased without compromising the thermal capacity. The 3WP offers reduced investment for installers and more efficient operation for the user. www.aermec.co.uk

ELCO

As part of a major upgrade, Elco Heating Solutions has supplied 15 TRIGON® XL 570kW boilers to 10 Upper Bank Street in Canary Wharf. To fulfil the system requirements, Elco’s floor standing units were installed over three floors; four boilers on the 31st level, and an additional 11 divided between the fifth and sixth. Elco also ensured hassle-free integration to the BMS, by utilising the Elco Commercial Gateway to allow communication via BACnet protocol. All TRIGON® XL boilers can be disassembled for easy on site handling and simple installation in buildings with restricted access which was key in this project. Elco’s TRIGON® XL570 models are designed to pass through standard 760mm wide doors, while factory fitted cargo wheels allow each boiler to be easily manoeuvred into its final position The TRIGON® XL is available in seven models, with outputs from 150-570kW, offering Ultra-low NOx emissions complying with class 6 (2018) requirements, an 8 bar working pressure, 30K flow/return temperature differential, superb seasonal efficiencies, and an ultra-compact footprint. www.elco.co.uk

MIKROFILL

Mikrofill has supplied a new heating solution for the Harrietsham village hall. Harrietsham is a rural village nestling in the North Downs, seven miles east of Maidstone. Built in the 1990s its village hall with three function rooms to choose from supports events such as engagement, wedding and birthday parties.

In 2020, it was deemed that the existing boiler was beyond economical repair and the remedial works were to be carried out by long established mechanical contractor, Hadene Building Services. Mikrofill supplied a frame mounted Ethos 90kW condensing boiler capable of modulating down to as little as 9kW and NOx levels of only 33 mg/kW. The boiler provides LPHW to each of the function rooms and common areas and is unvented by the use of a Mikrofill 3 pressurisation package.

MITSUBISHI

Mitsubishi Electric has launched its new Plasma Quad Connect air purifier for improved indoor air quality. The bolt-on device can neutralise six key indoor pollutants, as well as inhibit 99.8% of SARS-CoV-2. Plasma Quad Connect works like an electrical curtain to catch and neutralise even microscopic particles in the air, to significantly improve indoor air quality. The technology, has been independently tested against SARS-CoV-2 by the Microbial Testing Laboratory, Japan Textile Quality and Technology Centre in Kobe, Japan. Plasma Quad Connect has also been found to be effective against bacteria, dust, viruses, mould and allergens such as pollen, in addition to microscopic particles down to PM2.5. “Plasma Quad Connect significantly improves indoor air quality, providing peace of mind for the building owner and reassurance for building occupants,” said Mark Grayston, of Mitsubishi Electric. It works with new and existing equipment, making it ideal for hotels, leisure facilities, medical centres, retail outlets and offices.”

OMNIE

A contractor developer, targeting the high end property market is utilising a renewables and UFH package from Omnie to provide space heating and hot water, as well as to maintain indoor air quality.

For a new-build five-bedroom house near Ripon in Yorkshire, Hotham Construction is making use of insulated concrete formwork (ICF) for the walls of the half buried structure, as well as a highly insulated pitched roof supported by JJI engineered timber joists, to keep heating loads to a minimum. Omnie determined that a 7kW LG Therma V air source heat pump (ASHP) would be sufficient to feed the Ultimate and OgeeBoard UFH circuits, along with all of the domestic hot water requirements. Omnie also designed and supplied a full MVHR system for the house, utilising a Zehnder unit. Martin Hotham said: “I have been installing Omnie ASHPs and UFH, as well as the Zehnder MVHR systems for over five years and had no hesitation in going to them. They provided all of the specifications and detailed layout drawings for the build and trained our people in the installation of the LG heat pumps.” omnie.co.uk

RIELLO

Reflecting its commitment to delivering extremely low NOx emissions, Riello has developed a new range of Monobloc (350 - 19,500 kW) and Dual-block (2,500 - 24,000 kW) burners based on flue gas recirculation (FGR) technology.

These include the new RS 68÷2000/E FGR series; monobloc burners in which all components are integrated in a compact footprint, so as to make installation and maintenance extremely easy. FGR operates on the partial recirculation of fumes of combustion inside the burner, using integrated electronic controls and three independent servomotors to manage proportions of air, fuel and exhaust gases. The result is extremely low NOx emissions in compliance with the strictest standards, whilst maintaining high operating reliability.
