Focus on humidity control
M
aintaining optimal humidity in commercial buildings helps to create a comfortable environment
for the occupants, and can also have important benefits for the building and its contents as a whole. It’s a process that is often overlooked but an important subject in HVR, which is why we shine the spotlight on humidification and dehumidification a number of times each year. Aside from the comfort and health benefits for building occupants, keeping an optimal RH of 40% to 60% can also lead to better energy efficiency of HVAC systems; longevity of equipment; and in some cases protection of valuable items or documents. Our humidity control feature from pg 10 highlights the expertise of three industry specialists in this field. First up, Humidity Solutions discusses the differences between resistive and electrode steam humidifiers and which you should choose on pg 10. This is followed on pg 12 by Condair’s
Dave Marshall-George and Ranald Stewart of Klima-Therm on pg 13 who discusses everything you know about dehumidifiers. Other features this month include heat
pumps, district heating, fan coil units, CHP and HVR Domestic.
