ADVECO

Adveco has appointed Vince Ng as business development manager driving national sales accounts and Adveco’s CPD programme. Vince will support Adveco’s portfolio of national accounts, including key brands across retail, hotels, restaurant chains and the public sector. “Whether building brand new facilities or refurbishing existing buildings, Adveco’s application design services, specialist product portfolio and service contracts can help national organisations to control capital and operational expenses,” said Vince. “Critically by working in partnership with us customers operating UK-wide can reduce global warming carbon and harmful NOx emissions from their DHW systems.” “As a provider of hot water technologies, Adveco is proud to have a commitment towards the continued growth of knowledge and experience of professionals in the energy and sustainability sector. All our CPDs, including Best Practices for Electric-based Commercial Hot Water Systems, can be booked now with the training team as face-to-face or remote sessions,” said Vince.

TOSHIBA

A former Marks & Spencer building in Stockport has been transformed into a modern office, retail and leisure facility, equipped with high efficiency air conditioning based on a Toshiba SHRM-e heat recovery Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system.

Five separate Toshiba three-pipe VRF systems were installed by Coolair Services, working for Medway Heating under main contractor City Build, with Toshiba VN heat recovery ventilation systems – installed by Ventilation Design Services – providing fresh air to the building. “The remodelled building has open ceilings, giving a contemporary, spacious feeling,” said David McSherry, head of sales at Toshiba. “This means ductwork is exposed to retain the clean, industrial design. To accommodate this and prevent the risk of condensation forming on ducting, the fresh air system is engineered to operate with a maximum of 14 degrees Celsius air-off temperature.” The ceiling-suspended cassettes are painted in a bespoke black livery to match the contemporary lighting frames.

CIAT

CIAT has launched a new range of Vectios rooftop air conditioning units operating on lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R-454B, enabling customers such as retailers and logistics companies to significantly reduce their carbon footprint by replacing high GWP R-410A systems.

With a GWP of 466, R-454B’s overall carbon footprint is more than 80% lower than HFC R-410A. The combination of lower GWP, improved seasonal efficiency and reduced refrigerant charge substantially reduces the carbon footprint of the new units, which are available in cooling capacities from 23 to 91kW and heating capacities from 22 to 90kW. “The Vectios on R-454B offers an optimum solution for rooftop applications,” said Natividad Molero, product manager, rooftops, CIAT. “As supermarkets and other end users seek to decarbonise and cut their energy costs, our extended range of R-454B refrigerant options provide a ready-made solution to support them on their journey to Net Zero.”

Toshiba Air Conditioning is transforming its approach to equipment commissioning, warranty registration and installer training to provide a simple and quick online system benefiting contractors and end-users. The online commissioning and warranty tools are now fully integrated, with Toshiba’s web-based training portal feeding into the same system and keeping all relevant information updated.

“We wanted to keep things as simple as possible and bring everything together, because training, warranties and commissioning are so closely linked,” said Cameron Beech of TCUK.

The automated system works for both direct and distribution customers, while end users can see all their equipment across multiple sites, together with maintenance records and warranty claims.

“With the advances in technology, we felt integrated systems were a key way to improve and further develop our customer experience,” Mr Beech added.

GILBERTS

Gilberts has risen to the challenge of delivering indoor air quality to a constantly evolving brief for a high profile, luxury hotel. The new Virgin Hotel in Edinburgh is the first in the UK for the global brand and has overcome a complex array of challenges in its construction over the past four years. A stand-out element has been Gilberts’ GHV double deflection grilles, specially produced in a bronze finish to sit within 200 year old wood panelled walls.

Bobby Armstrong, senior contracts manager at Emtec Building Services, said: “Virgin is committed towards sustainability and to achieving LEED Gold or Silver standards in all of its hotels. The main issue for us was choosing grilles and diffusers that complimented and enhanced the building fabric, rather than try to mimic it.

“Gilberts has been fantastic throughout this technically challenging project, delivering the depth of detail and flexibility required to accommodate delivery of a build that began during the strictest Covid working practices.” gilbertsblackpool.com

VENT AXIA

With the amended Part F of the Building Regulations coming into effect from 15th June 2022, ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is offering advice on the changes for commercial and industrial clients.

With Part F (Means of Ventilation) focusing heavily on health and wellbeing, a key addition to the document is a new section on monitoring IAQ. Other key points include designing ventilation systems to minimise external pollutants entering indoor spaces, and assessing ventilation requirements when installing energy efficiency measures to ensure good IAQ. “Amended Part F of the Building Regulations recognises the role of low carbon ventilation in the health and energy efficiency of buildings. To help consultants, contractors, developers and facilities managers comply with the new regulations, we can offer guidance and advice including offering a new certified CPD,” said David Cook of Vent-Axia. “Our commercial and industrial team can explain the changes to the legislation, how this affects non- residential properties and what solutions are available.” www.vent-axia.com
