also be powder coated to suit the colour requirements set out by the architects and any new colour scheme. The new modular Highline 235 therefore off ers customers fl exibility, quality and the ability to adapt to future use, ensuring longevity and delivering signifi cant cost advantages.
Carbon reductions The latest fan coil units are also more energy effi cient than ever before, helping AC contractors off er commercial property owners a way to reduce a building’s carbon emissions and so improving its EPC. For example, the new Diff usion Highline 235 modular fan coil range is designed with high effi ciency EC motor and fan assemblies that provide improved Specifi c Fan Powers (SFP) as low as 0.14 W/l/s, reducing overall building energy consumption. But energy effi ciency is not the only consideration when choosing a fan coil. It is vital to create a comfortable environment for building occupants too. The latest fan coil units have therefore been designed with exceptionally quiet operation with noise ratings as so low as NR25. These fan coils are rigorously tested in our own test laboratory and are then independently tested by SRL Technical Services Ltd (also known as the Sound Research Laboratory) giving customers further assurance of their credentials. As a result, they are well-suited to various types of buildings especially residential spaces and hotels where quiet operation is critical. There is also a raft of benefi ts for enhancing thermal comfort in a building, not only does this eliminate draughts but improves occupants’ health and wellbeing. For example, it helps to reduce absenteeism, increases productivity and increases a building’s rental opportunities. The latest fan coil units are therefore equipped with heat exchangers specifi cally designed to achieve optimum heating and cooling, improving thermal comfort for building occupants. In addition, the modular design allows AC contractors to choose the exact fan
coil they need for a project, by manufacturing a wider range of units Diff usion helps them avoid over specifi cation and reducing energy waste. At its core the unit contains components such as fi lters, heat exchangers and fans. AC contractors can then choose from a variety of attenuator and plenum options. Discharge plenums come in rectangular or circular spigots, and inlet and discharge attenuators have diff erent lengths to meet the specifi c acoustic requirements. The modular design also increases the life of the fan coil as each component can easily be accessed for maintenance, and replaced if necessary.
Embodied energy
Other sustainability advantages of modular fan coil units, such as the new Highline 235, are that they have been designed to be as compact as possible so they are manufactured from less material, making them more sustainable with lower embodied carbon. With the UK’s Net-Zero 2050 target driving carbon reductions, while commercial property owners are having to adapt to new working patterns, it has become essential to be agile in making changes to buildings. When it comes to the AC sector energy effi cient modular fan coil units tick all the right boxes for refurbishments since they are easy to adapt and maintain while off ering high effi ciencies and signifi cant sustainability benefi ts.
