Industry News Arden Dies launches apprenticeship recruitment drive

A leading die-maker has launched its latest apprenticeship recruitment drive. Arden Dies is seeking applicants to join its successful apprenticeship programme, based at its purpose-built factory site in Marple, Stockport. Arden Dies is the UK’s leading die-maker, specialising in die and tooling manufacture for the

packaging and carton industry. The company is now recruiting for its latest cohort of apprentices in a range of manufacturing roles, which aim to teach young people new skills and build themselves a bright future. Martin Poynter, managing director at Arden Dies, said: “We are very proud to launch our latest

apprenticeship recruitment drive and provide more opportunities for young people to get a head start on their career. “We believe in investment, especially in the people who work for us, and we’ve had some fantastic success stories through our own apprenticeship programme, providing training and employment opportunities to local people while helping us to develop a stronger workforce. Arden Dies is a leader

in the packaging sector, and with the current drive for more sustainable packaging, we can offer a bright future and a promising career path for our new recruits. Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for people to gain valuable skills, experience and qualifications while still taking home a wage, so I’d encourage young people and school-leavers to seriously consider an apprenticeship with Arden.” Apprentice Lewis Catchpole (pictured) is one of Arden’s many success stories. Lewis, aged 19, joined the company in 2017 and has recently completed the first two years of his Level Three apprenticeship. He’s now embarking on his Level Four qualification, which is a HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

Clariant advances a colourful future for biodegradable plastics

ETI Converting announces the opening of its technology centre

A colourful future is in reach for biodegradable plastics with Clariant’s new range of 25 organic pigments for biodegradable and compostable polymers which are compliant with the European Norm 13432 opening up colour options and the appeal of organically recyclable packaging. Clariant’s latest colourant introduction aims to boost the attractiveness of biodegradable plastics for brand owners and manufacturers of packaging and consumer goods. With the 25 PV Fast and Graphtol pigments,

masterbatch producers can take colour far beyond the “earthy” natural hue associated with biodegradable polymers, like PLA, PBAT, PHA and PBS, while meeting the European Norm 13432 requirements for packaging recoverable through industrial composting and biodegradation. Clariant’s pigments for the colouration of compostable polymers are no obstacle to the degradability of the polymer and are suitable for a wide variety of packaging.
