Coating & Laminating
Nordson Measurement & Control Solutions delivers next-level gauging performance
Nordson Measurement & Control Solutions (formerly NDC Technologies) says it solves the limited product and process control visibility issues of converting companies with its advanced technologies providing coat-weight, moisture, and speed & length measurement
NEW CW 9000 GAUGE FOR COATING AND LAMINATING
Introduced for the first time at this year’s ICE Munich show, the new CW 9000 provides unparalleled PUR adhesive coat-weight measurements. This innovative solution is optimized to fit compact coaters and laminators, measuring a wide range of coat weights but performing incredibly well with thin coatings below 5 microns/grams.
Mark Rainville, product anager for Nordson MCS’ film extrusion and converting businesses, said: “The New CW 9000 is the sum of what we’ve learned over the past years to meet the manufacturing challenges faced by the converting industry.
“This compact gauge allows for fast profile scanning on clear films, printed films aluminum foils, and metalized film or paper. Results are accurate and repeatable”
LATEST SERIES 9 GAUGE FOR CONVERTING AND EXTRUSION
Nordson presented the new Series 9 online gauge for food, bulk industrial material, and tobacco processing applications in 2020. This innovative solution is seeing great interest from numerous manufacturers in these industries. The company has taken this gauging system one step further and developed a powerful measurement solution specifically for the converting and extrusion industries — the Series 9 Converting gauge. Delivering immediate and long-term value to converting processes, the Series 9 gauge provides the following benefits to customers:
Greater Process Vision – when integrated with NDC’s high-performance single-beam scanners, such as the SlimTrak II, and
Pro.Net TDi web gauging controller, it provides process vision far beyond that of
conventional in-process measurement systems. Users can effectively perform ultra-accurate measurements of moisture, coat weight, and film/ layer thickness across a wide range of converting applications such as extrusion, coating, and lamination. • Long-Term Stability – delivers ultra-reliable operation with no need for recalibration, systematic monitoring, or correction for drift;
• Advanced Diagnostics – includes powerful features for preventative maintenance to ensure maximum uptime; and
• Lowest Cost of Ownership – easy operation and maintenance enable manufacturers to realise immediate and long-term value over the lifetime of operation.
LATEST LASERSPEED PRO M SERIES The LaserSpeed Pro M Series gauge solves the tracking problem of bouncing and moving products. Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) has been a long-proven method for accurately measuring the length and speed of products. However, many applications pose measurement challenges. Products that cannot be well-guided move off-axis and out of the measurement range can be problematic for traditional LDV-based gauges trying to keep the laser on the product’s surface. These measurement issues can dramatically affect the ability to control product speed and achieve accurate cut-to-length requirements.
Moreover, unreliable
measurements can be costly due to product give-away, waste from scrap, process downtime, and other conditions. Nordson’s patented
LaserSpeed Pro M Series gauge solves these problems. It uses a revolutionary LDV optical technique to provide highly reliable, highly accurate (up to 0.05%) speed measurements.
