Coating & Laminating ProLine:
innovative system operation By Ralf Mohrdieck, head of electrical engineering at ATH.
he new KROENERT control panel ProLine stands for the latest generation of our user interface system. It is an innovation featuring the highest usability for our customers. The latest technologies and the intuitive user interface increase the efficiency in the production process. ProLine delivers a maximum of user-oriented, intuitive operability, ergonomics, expandability, and safety – throughout the entire life of the production line.

This innovative user interface system guarantees an optimal status overview at all times. It is ensured by the central main dashboard with individual views and fast navigation, the upright format for clear visualisations and the on-demand fade-in and fade-out of information. The new visualisation is controlled by three main parts: applications,
dashboard, and machine content. The various compact applications offer many useful functions in a clear form that support the operator through optimised operation. They include useful features like alarming, trends, and recipes as well as browser and information for the machine. It is also possible to integrate external programs such as browser applications to be implemented into the application part.
The dashboard contains selected tiles showing actual machine parameters for different modules. It is also possible to have fast access tiles to other machine parts or applications.
The machine part is divided into different topics, which can be expanded as required. The topics are machine modules, web tension, drives, heaters, and web paths. Each topic
can be shown in three different views. The list- and process-view are always included. Besides a topologic view, which shows the whole machine drawing, can be added.
General information like date, time, location, machine speed are presented in the header. There is also an active machine landscape which can be used to easily navigate through the machine modules. An alarm line shows the last alarm and has also a fast access to the alarm application.
The various modules in our ProLine user interface system have detailed views. In these views, there is a module drawing at the top that can be minimised if it is not needed. All necessary data like drive parameter, web tension configuration and module specific data is listed in topics below.
The optimal operation of ProLine is ensured by an aluminium housing in upright format as well as the highly visible multicolour LED strip for system status display. Touch gestures can be used to quickly navigate images and robust hardware push-buttons let users quickly operate the configurable controls. This allows machine operators to act fast and effectively in every situation.
The ergonomic work area of the new designed operator desk in widths of 600 mm and 1,200 mm has a clear arrangement of important buttons and switches as well as a sliding and tilting touch-panel mount. The hinged and lockable work surface offers easy console access from above. In addition, third- party monitors, tablets, or clipboards can be adapted easily.
ProLine is already in use at the KROENERT Technology Center in Hamburg. It is installed at the LABCO, which is a laboratory coating line originally designed for research and product development but also used for small- batch production.
All test results and findings from the LABCO can be easily transferred to production lines. This also applies to ProLine. Since ProLine can be installed on all new and old coating lines it offers great versatility.
