Jaffabox Ltd rebrands following acquisition by Schumacher

Jaffabox Ltd. the family run Birmingham business and one of the UK’s leading leading cardboard box manufacturers, is set to rebrand following its acquisition by the Schumacher Packaging Group Ltd in November 2019. The rebrand has been welcomed by the Aymes family, former owners of Jaffabox Ltd and the business will be officially renamed Schumacher Packaging Ltd on 1st April. Björn Schumacher, Schumacher Packaging Group managing director,

said: “Developments in the first few months of the Group operating the Birmingham plant have been very positive and our international customers have welcomed the expansion which means we can now offer the same full service in the UK as our other European sites. Depending on the economic situation in connection with COVID-19, we intend to invest six million euros in a first step – the plant in Birmingham has great potential.” New managing director Annette Amyes said, “All of our customers will continue to be supported by familiar faces with the same high standards expertise and reliability.”

Global PrintExpo launches fully virtual exhibition

Resolve Business Management has announced the launch of Global PrintExpo - the world’s first Virtual Exhibition and conference facility for the printing industry.

In developing this creative and innovative concept,

Show Directors Wayne Beckett and Chris Watson of RBM have utilised their long standing technical experience managing cloud based products as well as expertise in running large-scale printing industry exhibitions. The show will open in June 2020. Beckett comments, “We believe this is clearly the right time to launch a

virtual print show, not just because of the present restrictions in attending physical trade shows which will be in place for some time, but also because of the sustainability advantages and easier accessibility for visitors. We know that a lot of companies are geared up for new product launches later this year and with no current trade shows, this will have a massive impact on their businesses. Global PrintExpo is designed to give suppliers a regular stream of enquiries throughout the year and their stand URL’s can also be used for advertising and marketing opportunities outside of the exhibition.” The Global PrintExpo Virtual Exhibition will work in the same way that a live exhibition does, except that anyone can visit the show 24/7 365 days a year, from anywhere in the world without the cost of flights and hotels. The 10,000m² venue and all the stands will be rendered out to real physical dimensions. So that when the show opens in June 2020, visitors will register and be able to navigate through the hall and visit stands, complete with 3D products, HD videos and literature downloads, generating real time sales enquiries.

Self-adhesive labels and short run packaging essential to COVID19 supply chain

Self-adhesive labels and related short run packaging are an essential requirement for a continuous flow of food and medical products. They are part of the critical infrastructure that is needed to master the COVID19 crisis. Labels and labelling technology are an essential feature for the food and medical supply chain. They provide

primary product information on the supermarket shelf and in the consumer household after purchase, they offer pharmaceutical companies and doctors the opportunity to provide customized information for individual patients, and they facilitate the tracking and tracing of goods along the value chain. Following the outbreak of COVID19 and the resulting public health measures, label companies have been taking

steps to contain the risk for their staff’s well-being and their business’ continuity. Together with the national associations and other stakeholder associations, FINAT has been supporting the members of the label community with information, most recently with a webinar on 31 March to assess the situation around Europe and explore possible next steps in support of the industry. FINAT also endorses statements from various industry bodies calling for the uninterrupted cross- border transport of raw materials, goods and

packaging, as well as the continued availability of essential raw materials and chemicals. FINAT Managing Director Jules Lejeune comments: “Several countries have explicitly or implicitly declared labels and packaging as essential part of the

critical infrastructure for the food and medical supply chain. We also welcome the EU Commission’s new ‘Guidelines for Border Management’, implementing Green Lanes for essential freight transport. We however look forward to even more concerted measures on European level to contain the economic impact of this crisis. In Europe, governments, industries and workers alike, we are all in this together.” Lejeune concludes: “The European label and narrow-web industry is strongly committed to play its part in the critical infrastructure. Presently, however,

the European label value chain is facing considerable challenges, as businesses are struggling to keep up with excessive short term demand due to hoarding, while at the same time, companies are coping with labour shortages and restrictions on the availability of critical raw materials and chemicals in the manufacturing process.”
