Hospital phone charger Southampton General Hospital has become the first hospital in the UK to introduce a phone charger vending machine. The vending machines are made by British energy company, Lifesaver Power, and allow users to buy or rent a battery power bank for any smartphone. Once used, the power bank can be recharged at home or returned to the machine


Electric vehicle vending machine The Toyota IMV 0 concept will be showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show being held until November 5. It’s a modular electric vehicle platform that can function as a little truck or van, depending on the customer’s needs. Toyota’s booth will include various takes on the IMV 0. For


example, there will be a mobile cafe, and a separate version will have a rear section with a huge vending machine dispensing capsule toys.


Book vending for SEND school A school in Kent says it aims to combat the cost of living crisis with a new book vending machine. Students at Bradfields Academy in Chatham receive tokens for


their efforts and engagement in English lessons, which they can use to get books from the machine. The scheme has been funded by publishing company CPI and the


Co-op. Bradfields Academy is a school for students aged between 4 and 19 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Costcutter gets RVM A retailer has installed what is thought to be the first reverse vending machine (RVM) in an independent convenience shop in London. The EcoVend unit, installed at Costcutter in Brockley, accepts cans and bottles and prints out a voucher for customers. The store is running a points system via the RVM to raise funds for its local primary school.
