Connected Molecules changes its name to SmartNow

Connected Molecules, the Dutch company behind the international software platform for self-service machines, is being renamed to SmartNow. The new name marks a new phase for the company in which the focus will be completely on creating smarter and data- driven management of self-service machines. Self-service is more relevant than ever. We all deal with it on a daily basis. Whether you buy a coffee at the train station, go to the toilet at a fuel station or have your car washed at a car wash: there is a good chance that you regularly use SmartNow technology. The demand for self-service has increased, especially in the past two years said chief executive Duke Prins. “Due to the Covid pandemic, companies are investing more in contactless payments with their self-service devices, so that less cash needs to be handled. In addition, with the current staff shortages, we see that self-service and the use of machine data are a necessity for many companies. SmartNow is the partner that enables you to obtain maximum return, control and efficiency from self-service machines now and to also be ready for the future.” says chief executive Duke Prins. The main reason for the new name is the fact that the company

has changed significantly since it started as a software pioneer and transformed into an international player in the market for smart connectivity. Mr Prins said: “Thousands of people and companies across Europe rely on our services every day. Changing your name has a significant impact, but we are convinced that the new name better reflects who we are and what we do every day: making self- service machines smart.” Apart from the name and the look and feel nothing else changes:

the product, the services and the team remain the same. The company continues with the strategy of international growth and innovation, and quality and service remain as before.

New NMWE President elected

Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE), representing the interests of over five hundred natu-ral mineral and spring water producers in Europe, has elected Alessandro Pasquale, chief exec-utive and owner of Mattoni 1873, as its new president for the next two years. Mr Pasquale, a Swiss-Italian national, is the second generation

to lead the family business. The father of two children has assumed leadership of Mattoni 1873 from his father in 2007 and has expanded the family business from Czech Republic to eight European countries, employing more than 3,000 people. Mr Pasquale is passionate about natural mineral water, with special attention to source pro-tection and packaging sustainability. He has been a strong advocate of circular economy princi-ples both at the national level and within the European Union for many years. “Natural mineral and spring water producers provide citizens

with natural and unique products. We work to safeguard their precious water resources by protecting the catchment areas

around their sources to assure the purity of our mineral waters. Caring for the environment also means promoting biodiversity and making our business sustainable and circular. For dec-ades, we have been embarking on a pathway towards sustainability and today, our sector has a unique opportunity to become fully circular. Our packaging, whether glass and PET, is fully re-cyclable and already achieving comparatively high collection rates. With the right EU policy measures in place, we can reach full circularity. Those measures include the implementation of effective and efficient collection solutions across Europe and establishing priority access to our collected and recycled packaging material to allow us to close the loop,” saide Mr Pasquale. The new president will be supported by new board members, also announced by NMWE today. They are: Paco Vallejo, President of ANEABE, Spain; Gavin Partington, Director General of the British Soft Drinks Association; and Antoine Portmann, General Manager of Evian Volvic Inter-national at Danone Waters. Jürgen Reichle, chief executive of Verband Deutscher Mineralwas-ser (VDM), takes over as Treasurer.
