SIRIUS u Celebrating 25 Years
S
teve Jones, Managing Director of Sirius Buying Group, comments: “It may
sound a bit cliché, but the real strength of Sirius lies in our community and the collaborative relationships we have built with our Approved Suppliers. Independent retailers face constant pressures, from pricing and margin challenges to shiſt ing consumer expectations and supply chain complexities. What we aim to do is bring our Members together in a way that allows them to share knowledge, exchange ideas and ultimately uncover new opportunities within their businesses. By working closely with our Suppliers and understanding their objectives, we can align them with the needs of our Members and deliver a strong proposition for all parties. Sirius plays an important role as the conduit between Supplier and Member, helping Approved Suppliers align their market strategies with focused opportunities across the Membership. That collaboration is incredibly important and is a big part of what continues to drive the success of the Group. The sense and feeling of community doesn’t just happen, it’s something we actively shape. We’ve made sure we have representation at board level from diff erent types of retailer profi les, so the voice of our Members is always at the centre of our decision-making. It’s important to me that we stay closely aligned with the real, day-to-day challenges our Members face and that we remain agile enough to respond to them. This collaboration extends far beyond commercial agreements too. Over the years, we’ve worked hard to create an environment where Members feel comfortable learning from each other, sharing experiences and discussing the challenges aff ecting the sector openly and honestly. From networking opportunities and key sessions to peer-to-peer conversations at our Conferences and Trade Shows, we continue to create opportunities for Members to strengthen not only their businesses, but also their confi dence as independent retailers operating within a rapidly changing market. We’re proud that many of our Members have
evolved signifi cantly during their time within the Group - expanding product categories, investing in showroom development and embracing new retail opportunities with the support and encouragement of the wider Sirius network. Making those kinds of strategic business decisions can be incredibly challenging independently, which is why having a trusted

network around you can be so important. We’ve always maintained a philosophy
of ‘quality over quantity’, ensuring our focus remains on delivering genuine value, meaningful relationships and sustainable growth for both our Members and Approved Suppliers alike. Ultimately, what we’ve built is a model that
doesn’t dilute independence, it strengthens it. Our Members can retain their identity and everything that makes their businesses unique, while remaining proud of what they have built individually, but with the added confi dence, capability and support that comes from being part of a strong, collaborative buying group.”
Driving Growth Through Partnerships Central to Sirius’ success is its approach to Approved Supplier partnerships. Over 25 years, the Group has built strong, strategic relationships with leading brands and distributors. Steve Jones continues: “A big part of what
we do is working closely with our Approved Suppliers to create real, sustainable growth opportunities for everyone involved. For our Members, that means access to a broader and more competitive product off ering, stronger commercial terms and ongoing support across product launches, promotions and range development. For our Suppliers, it’s about building deeper engagement with a committed and knowledgeable retail network - one that can drive sell-through and strengthen brand presence at a local level. We are constantly evaluating our Approved Supplier base to ensure our Members’ needs continue to be met, whether that’s identifying
gaps in the market or introducing new Supplier off erings that complement existing ranges in a constantly evolving market. That’s important because it not only gives our Members greater choice in how they build and develop their businesses, but also strengthens our collective buying power.” The Group continues to work closely with
Approved Suppliers to create mutually benefi cial opportunities that strengthen relationships across the entire network. By aligning Supplier objectives with the evolving needs of Members, Sirius aims to create an environment where collaboration leads to shared commercial success. By maintaining close communication with
both Members and Approved Suppliers, Sirius can identify opportunities where market strategy and retail demand can align more eff ectively. This helps create stronger commercial outcomes across the Group while ensuring Members remain competitive within the marketplace. Sirius also provides Approved Suppliers with multiple platforms to strengthen visibility and engagement across the Membership. From exclusive off er brochures and promotional activity to digital assets, marketing support and brand representation through the Group’s Product Information Management (PIM) system, Sirius continues to invest in tools that help Suppliers maintain strong and consistent visibility across Member retail platforms.
