Autumnal opportunities

Autumn is well and truly here, with all the associated planting opportunities that entails – and don’t forget sales of leaf blowers and rakes, of course.

Opportunities to host events and invite customers into store are

plentiful at this time of year, from spook-tacular celebrations to educational advice sessions on planting or harvesting fruits. It is also not long before the shift of gear into the Christmas season, so plans are no doubt already well under way for what can get footfall going over the festive period.

It is also the time of year for planning ahead, considering your ranges for 2019 and beyond.

As one of the key events in the garden retail calendar, Glee 2018 once again proved a source of ideas and inspiration for attendees. It is always important to keep a finger on the pulse of industry trends, and to spend time discussing potential opportunities for your business.

In many ways, the garden retail game has morphed into one which does not stop. While there used to be well defined seasons, there is now a consumer who is happy to buy throughout the year, but is also more demanding in terms of what will bring them through the doors. Making your garden centre an attractive proposition all year round is a challenge, but one that, done right, can have lucrative results.
