cover story Clever ideas for a beautiful balcony W

ith green space at a premium, especially in our towns and cities, it’s a crime not to make full

use of a balcony. Show your customers that their balcony can be so much more than a bike shed or dumping ground for that cross trainer they never use. With Elho’s clever ideas it’s never been easier for urban gardeners to love their balcony and get closer to nature.

Inspire with clever space savers There’s an Elho pot or planter for every nook and cranny. If your customers don’t have floor space to spare on their balcony, use planted up pots to demonstrate creative ideas for railings, tables and hanging spaces.

Liven up a wall with Balcony Pot Holders and show aspiring gardeners with tiny balconies that they can grow their own herbs, fruits and vegetables – thanks to the award-winning Flower Bridge Grow House (pictured right). David Nicholson, Elho Sales Manager, UK & Ireland says, “As well as inspiring your existing customers, it’s an opportunity to appeal to a new audience – younger consumers and those new to gardening. An increasing proportion of customers aren’t experienced gardeners. That’s why they need a little support, information and visual inspiration to find the right combination of plant and pot.”

Light up the night

Customers who love outdoor entertaining can extend the long summer nights with the clever Flower Light (below left). It’s a pretty planter and a practical light that works on solar energy. For every hour of full sun it gets during the day, it gives back an hour of light in the evening. Plant up the Flower Light with lavender or rosemary to show it off to perfection

Going up

The trend for vertical gardening is perfect for customers who don’t have a lot of space. With a brightly coloured Corsica Vertical Garden (below right) they can have colour on their balcony, even when the Summer is over. Extending balcony use – and gardening season - well into the Autumn.

Happy plants, happy customers Many Elho pots and planters come with an in- built water reservoir. If plants are overwatered, or a heavy summer rain shower comes along, the excess water is collected. So your customers don’t need to spend hours tending to their plants. And happy plants mean happy customers, who keep coming back for more.

Growing green partnerships David Nicholson adds, “Elho works in partnership with garden centres to create enticing instore displays that excite the consumer and lead to more sales per square metre. Our marketing supports retailers with inspiring labels, stunning packaging, active PR and online campaigning.

“Elho is green in everything we do. Most of our collection is made of recycled material, all our pots last for a long time and are produced with 100% wind energy. Our aim is to be fully circular by 2020.”

Come and see Elho in the Retail Lab and VIP area at Glee, NEC Birmingham, 10-12 September 2018.
