Thinking outside the box New selection of IP69 slope top boxes from Lasnek.

L

asnek Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of quality stainless steel cable management systems, has announced its latest selection of IP69 slope top boxes for installing terminals, pushbuttons, or switchgear.

Available in three different configurations, the latest product offering of slope top boxes from Lasnek includes Push Button Boxes with supplied 22.5mm holes, Terminal Boxes with a blank front cover, and Control Station Boxes with suitable apertures for easy fitting of an isolator and switches. Manufactured from 1.5mm 304 brushed stainless steel, the latest additions to the range feature a 15-degree slope, to help prevent the build-up of material deposits. Suitable for use in highly corrosive environments and those that are subject to strict hygiene control, such as the food and drink industry, the latest range is available in 16 different sizes ranging from 100(H) x 100(W) to 285(H) x 285(W).

Complete with DIN rail for quick and simple mounting, all units within the range are 100mm deep, making them suitable for a wide range of electrical components requiring ingress protection to IP69.

The latest Lasnek Slope-Top Terminal Boxes come complete with a blank front panel and can be used as supplied or modified by the customer for specific entry requirements.

For customers requiring boxes to be supplied with pre-positioned 22.5mm holes for fitting push buttons, switches, or indicators, the Lasnek Sloped Top Push Button Box is available with a front panel with one to 16 entries.

In addition, two further sloped top boxes are available from Lasnek: size one (225mmH x 130mmW x100mmD), which features all the benefits of a

terminal box but with a 1 x 22.5mm hole and apertures to suit either a AB or Eton Isolator, and size two (225mmH x185mmW x100mmD), which includes the additional capacity of an extra 22.5mm entry, making them ideal for localised control stations. www.lasnek.com 01582 425 777

New IDEC E-stops from Live Electronics

Live Electronics, the specialist independent UK distributor of rugged industrial electronic and electromechanical components, has introduced the latest range of IDEC X-Series Safe-Break emergency

D

esigned to offer the highest levels of machine and operator safety, the new E-stops use an

innovative design that stops a machine the moment an operator hits the emergency stop button. The IDEC E-stops will also immediately shut-off power if a contact block or actuator is damaged or incorrectly installed.

With traditional E-stops normally closed (NC) contacts are held in place by spring pressure. This effectively maintains them in a closed position until actuated, when the pressure is released. There is therefore the risk that incorrect installation or excessive force in an emergency can break or dislodge a vital part, preventing the contacts opening; the subsequent results can potentially be catastrophic.

By comparison, the patented Safe-Break technology deployed in the X-Series effectively

reverses the direction of applied energy, with spring-pressure being used to ensure that the NC contacts will open if the emergency switch is damaged, or the contact blocks separate due to excessive force. This is simple, effective and completely safe.

X-Series E-stops also feature a combined push-to-lock and pull or turn to reset button. Competing devices normally only offer one option or the other, meaning that OEMs have to hold more stock and specify alternative parts for different types of machines.

The X-Series has UL approval. Depending on the product version, this includes NISD and NISD2 approvals, plus certification for use in machine systems where Category 0 or Category 1 stop functions are required (as defined in ANSI/ NFPA79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).

Live Electronics holds a wide range of IDEC

E-stops in stock, with non-stock items generally being available on short lead-times. All products are backed by a comprehensive technical and customer support service.
