Company Profile
Leading the post- lockdown charge!
UK adults purchased a staggering 21.2 million digital devices during the first two months of the lockdown according to Deloitte’sDigital Consumer Trends 2020 Report. Game consoles, laptops, smart speakers and eReaders saw the highest uptake, a mixture of old and new generation devices requiring either a USB Type A or Type C charge point, respectively. Add to this the rapid growth in smartphone upgrades, and the sales argument for installing combined USB-A&C plates as ‘standard’ is compelling!
Hamilton offers a choice of two USB-A&C options:
Combined Double Switched Dual 2.4A USB Sockets - Available in four plate designs: Hartland, Hartland G2, Hartland CFX and Sheer CFX, and up to eleven different finishes, these solutions provide a sales opportunity to stay ahead of growing customer demand. Hamilton’s USB ports are clearly labelled with the rated current or rated power values, as per BS EN 62368 Annex F (Markings), and tests have shown that there is no power sharing between sockets. But faster charging needs more power, more rapidly. However, the
standard 47mm deep back box restricts the ability to fit a larger charging module to a double switch plate. A solution for this is currently in development but, in the meantime, Hamilton can deliver a higher rate of charge with its range of Euro Modules.
Euro Modules - Rated at 45W Type C / 18W Type A, Hamilton’s Euro Modules deliver additional power to support higher capacity devices such as the new MacBook Pro or iPad Pro. When a device is plugged into the Euro Module, it negotiates the power output required for optimal performance. For example, a device with USB-C (labelled PD – Power Delivery) will either accept the full 45 Watts on offer or will advise the charger to adjust the current and voltage to enable optimum charging. The same applies to the 18-Watt Type A socket (labelled QC – Quick Charge). For wholesalers looking to offer future-proof wiring accessories to
installers, Hamilton’s USB charging products provide transitional solutions. Its sockets with both USB-A and USB-C ports provide charging to new and legacy devices, while the Euro Module delivers the additional current and voltage required for more power-thirsty devices.
