Ellis called up for the Pan-American Games Cable cleats and clamps designed and manufactured in the UK by North Yorkshire-based Ellis, will play a vital safety role at this summer’s Pan-American Games in Lima, having been installed to secure electrical cables in substations that feed the Peruvian capital’s Games infrastructure.
T
aking place from July 26th to August 11th, the Pan-American Games will be the biggest sporting event ever held in Peru, with
competitors from 41 nations competing in 413 events across 38 sports; including, for the first time, body building and surfing. Tony Conroy, Ellis’ sales director, said: “The Pan-American Games is a
massive event for Peru, and we’re delighted that so much trust has been put in us and our cable cleats to have them selected to ensure the safety of the electrical cables supplying power to the multiple venues.” Ellis’ Alpha cable cleats and 1A cable clamps were specified by RL
Ingenieros SAC, and installed by Juegos Panamericanos 2019, having been purchased through its Peruvian distributor, Logytec and Ellis’ Latin American business development manager, Gabriela Castro. The cleats are manufactured in extruded aluminium (6000 series) to BS EN 755 – making them far more robust than cast aluminium cleats. They are also easy to fit, thanks to a one bolt fixing mechanism and zinc plated steel closing fasteners, and are available with two base options; aluminium or polymer; the latter available for use in installations where galvanic corrosion could be an issue. “Our Alpha cleats have won us a great deal of business since we first
introduced them,” continued Tony. “And it was a combination of their technical superiority to other similar cleats, our delivery times, and the fact the Ellis name is known and trusted around the world, that led to us securing this high profile specification.” Ellis’ export operation stretches across the world, and comprises an ever-
growing network of local distributors, which currently covers 38 countries. Other recent success in Latin America include the supply of Alpha cable
cleats to the Lima Metro, and 2F+ flame retardant Polymeric cable clamps for installation in electrical substations in Costa Rica by ICE (Instituto Costarricence de Electricidad).

manager, Scott Phillimore, at the 30,000 sq. ſt. purpose-built premises, it was recommended that products from the HDView 4MP CCTV range would provide the ideal system to protect the site. An 8 channel, full HD 1TB CCTV DVR, with four 4MP cameras in grey were selected for their ease of installation, relatively low cost and the technical back up available from ESP. The HDView systems offers features such as motion, continuous and schedule record, with simple footage playback and backup method of distributing essential footage. As standard it is packed with remotely accessible functions including live view by smart phone APP, email triggering, cloud id connection and storage. The tailor- made ESP HDView app is free to download and is compatible with Android and iOS operating systems and it enables quick and simple remote viewing. Comments Richard Green, Tea Factory: “When Scott came to do a survey of the premises, we had already been looking at other CCTV suppliers and

had some initial quotes. Scott did a very thorough survey of the whole site to satisfy our requirements for both external CCTV protection as well as internal monitoring of equipment. His advice was invaluable and we were very pleased with the highly competitive cost for the HDView 4MP CCTV system. We found it very easy to install and are pleased with its performance. The added assurance of the technical back-up team at ESP made this an easy decision.”
Established in 2009 by Only Natural Products and a Queens Award Winner in 2019 and 2016, the
Tea Factory manufactures and distributes all formats of tea production throughout the UK and Europe. Having successfully completed the installation at the manufacturing site, there are plans to install another of ESP’s HDView 4MP CCTV systems at the second unit on site which acts as a warehouse and storage facility.
