U
warehouse branch on the Queenslie Industrial Estate now employs four full time workers who have all been able to find their way back into
employment, thanks to the joint efforts of Stax Trade Centres and Working Links. “We have been involved
with Working Links for over two years now and the partnership has brought benefits for everyone involved,” explains Gary Anderson of Stax Trade Centres. “We have been able to provide work experience for a number of people via Working Links, and four of them have gone on to gain permanent roles working in our packing and administration departments. “Working Links does a
great job in helping unemployed local people find their way back to the world of work, and we’re delighted to play our part in that process. The vast
majority of our 89 employees live within three miles of the store, so we feel it’s especially important that we do our bit to help the local community. Through Working Links we’ve really benefited by finding local people who are ready to work and keen to take the opportunities we can offer them.” Working Links are a leading provider of tailored services which help people maximise their potential. Edmundson scores with high vis Southgate
E
dmundson Electrical’s Portsmouth branch team was on to a winner on ‘Waistcoat Wedmesday’ – the day that England played Croatia for a place in the World Cup final. The day, dubbed ‘Waistcoat Wednesday’ in honour of waistcoat-wearing Gareth Southgate, saw waistcoats flying out of the shops as fans tried to emulate the England manager’s fashion style. On match day, Edmundson tweeted: “With the news that Marks & Spencer are out of waistcoats, we at Edmundsons Portsmouth have taken things into our own hands and found Gareth Southgate a new look, which we think is a much better alternative!” Sadly, England lost out on a place in the finals, but the EW team think Edmundson’s own team scored with their high vis tribute to the England boss!

Director Mark Smith: “The upcoming launch of the 18th Edition will be an important time for every electrician across the UK. We wanted to do something unique, affordable and easily accessible to help contractors gain an improved insight into the forthcoming changes.” He described the event as a “genuine world
first” that has never been attempted on this scale anywhere in the world before.
Smith added that it was something that every
electrician across the nation would want to see. The 18th Edition seminar was hosted by
industry experts Darren Staniforth and Alan Wells and the talk focused on the changes included in the new regulations and what it means for electricians in their day-to-day work. More than 6,000 tickets were booked for the
event, making the 18th Edition Live Cinema event the largest event in the history of the electrical industry. Other sponsors included CEF, training company, JTL and Schneider Electric.
