RIGOL launches ultra-portable RF test instruments promising stronger performance for the price

elonic Instruments, the UK’s authorised RIGOL distributor, has announced the availability of the new RIGOL RSA800 Series Real- Time Spectrum Analysers and DNA800 Series Vector Network Analysers. Designed to bring laboratory-grade RF performance into a compact 1.9kg instrument, the new series is said to deliver capabilities previously only found in much larger and significantly more expensive benchtop equipment.


The RSA800 Series is available in frequency ranges up to 14GHz, with prices starting from £1,650 + VAT, while the DNA800 Series Vector Network Analysers start from £2,347 + VAT. What is said to make these new instruments particularly significant is the level of performance available at these price points. Features such as 40MHz real-time bandwidth as standard, full two-port vector network analysis, touchscreen operation, USB-C power, and SCPI remote control have traditionally been reserved for considerably higher-priced instruments.


The RSA800 Series combines spectrum analysis, real-time spectrum analysis and optional vector signal analysis, analogue demodulation and EMI pre-compliance testing into a single portable platform. Covering frequencies from 5kHz to 14GHz,


the instruments feature an impressive displayed average noise level of -168dBm (typical) and include a built-in tracking generator as standard for filter, antenna and cable measurements. The DNA800 Series offers true two-port vector network analysis with full S11, S12, S21 and S22 measurements, supporting


applications ranging from RF filters and antennas through


to PCB impedance characterisation. With a dynamic range of up to 125dB, trace noise as low as 0.005dB RMS, optional Distance- to-Fault (DTF) capability and support for TDR analysis, the DNA800 provides professional RF measurement capability in a highly portable format.


Both product families feature a bright 7-inch multi-touch display, USB, LAN and HDMI interfaces, Type-C power input allowing operation from a power bank, and full SCPI


compatibility for automated test applications.
