Comprehensive range of miniature and sub miniature ABS plastic enclosures

Terrington Components stock a vast selection of British manufactured ABS enclosures for a multitude of specialised industries and applications. They are ideal for packaging of small electronic systems, miniature PCB’s and devices such as miniature IoT sensory devices. We have developed our own range of screw lid, flanged mounted and push together screwless style

enclosures and potting boxes since the early 1980’s and originally worked and developed specific sized enclosures on several projects for Maplin Electronics group. Terrington Components concentrate on the miniature and sub-miniature sizes of the general plastic enclosure market with our screw lid range available in standard, deep, long and square combinations. Most sizes are available in various popular colours and our range of inhouse processes from CNC machining through to engraving help to remove the inconvenience of either sub-contracting out or having to produce the finished enclosure in-house.

Effective thermal management is known to be essential to ensure the durability, reliability and performance of electronic devices over a period of time specified by the manufacturer. Similarly, the mechanical attachment of the devices on the heat dissipation component to achieve the lowest heat transfer resistance between the contact pair

plays a significant role in the overall design. For many applications the way in which semiconductors are fixed is considered by customers to be a cost-reducing factor. Therefore it must be possible to fix the components quickly and easily without neglecting the aspects of mechanical safety and thermal contacting. In addition to the classical device mounting by means of various screw or adhesive connections, so-called transistor retaining springs from Fischer Elektronik provide a very good possibility of fixing transistors on or to a heat sink. The already extensive product range of transistor retaining springs has been extended by new U-shaped spring geometries. The new and in total six different retaining springs are made of a corrosion-protected spring steel. The products with the designation THFA 5 to 10 are adapted in their contour and dimensions to the different types of transistors, such as TO 218, TO 220, TO 247 and TO 3 P. The spring geometry consists of a straight surface which acts as a transistor support surface, whereas an opposite rounding exerts the contact pressure on the component by means of spring action and locks it securely and reliably. Depending on the design, the individual transistor retaining springs contain a locking point for the respective transistor or a special latching geometry, with which the spring can be fixed directly on the PCB in a groove being provided. Furthermore, it is possible to mount transistors on an external fin of a heatsink. In many extruded heatsinks as comb profiles, the external cooling fins are thicker in terms of material thickness, so that transistors can be placed on the fin contour from the outside and fixed securely and quickly by pushing over the THFA retaining springs. In addition to the base of the heatsink, the external cooling fins in conjunction with the U-shaped transistor retaining springs therefore provide an additional component mounting surface.

Quality Alternative Passives & Terminal Blocks

Material shortages are badly affecting the availability of Passive Components. BEC Distribution can offer quality Alternatives from 5-7 weeks lead time. The components are part of BEC’s “Select” range of components. Samples are free and spec sheets are available. BEC can offer Alternatives to major brands for up to 95% of all passive components. Products include Terminal Blocks, Inductors, Transformers, Resistors and Connectors.

METCASE DATAMET Wall-Mount Enclosures Now Available In Custom Sizes

METCASE DATAMET Wall-Mount Enclosures Now Available In Custom Sizes These tough, smart aluminium enclosures are ideal for applications including control systems, factory processing, security, machine control, measurement and detection. DATAMET offers complete access to the electronics during installation and servicing. Unscrewing the front panel and bezel reveals the screws securing the U-shaped top section, which can then be easily removed. After access, the top can then be refitted – securing the bezel, which is recessed to protect controls. The L-shaped rear/base section secured to the wall has holes for installing PCBs and internal mounting

plates. Cable glands and connectors can be mounted to the underside. Inside, there are four M4 earth studs. All fixings are supplied with the case. DATAMET is available in three standard sizes from 250 x 180 x 116.5 mm to 400 x 300 x 116.5 mm. The standard colours are light grey (RAL 7035)/window grey (RAL 7040) and black (RAL 9005). On demand, all dimensions can be adjusted to suit the customer’s specific requirements. Special colours and combinations are also available on request. Accessories include front panels, fixing screws and a PCB mounting kit. Additional customising options

for DATAMET include custom front panels, CNC machining, fixings and inserts, painting and finishing, and photo-quality digital printing of graphics, legends and logos.

Fast & Accurate Temperature Monitoring with ATC Semitec’s Inline In-flow Coolant Temperature Sensors

The TKS inline coolant sensors, from ATC Semitec, offer a neat temperature monitoring solution for cooling systems in the e-vehicle/ automotive industry. This temperature sensor is sealed directly into the pipe assembly providing both ease of installation and accurate temperature monitoring. Liquid cooling systems in EVs play an important role in optimising the performance of batteries and powertrains. Therefore accurate temperature monitoring of the fluid in the coolant loop helps the thermal management system maintain the optimal operation of batteries and other components. Installed within the inlet or the outlet hoses, this sensor directly, quickly and accurately measures the temperature of the

coolant as it flows past its sensing tip - providing a rapid response (Tc ≤ 15s) with a ±1% accuracy NTC thermistor as standard. They have a general operating range of -40°C to 125°C. Alternatives such as clip-on sensors measure temperatures indirectly and therefore may not be as responsive or as accurate.

These form part of a wide range of temperature sensors from ATC Semitec. ATC Semitec Ltd
