OKW Updates Its Cable Glands Range – Including New Pressure Compensation Glands


New PRESSURE COMPENSATION cable glands from OKW protect electronics from condensation in sealed enclosures. OKW has also added black (RAL 9005) as a standard colour to many other cable glands and grommets in the range.


The new PRESSURE COMPENSATION CABLE GLANDS (IP 68) use a ventilated membrane to stop temperature and pressure changes from causing condensation in hermetically sealed enclosures. Water entry pressure for the membrane is > 0.2 bar; RQ = 57 l/h (theoretical air flow rate at 0.07 bar). The new cable glands are available in sizes M12, M16 and M20. They are moulded from light grey (RAL 7035) or black (RAL 9005) polyamide (PA). Clamping blades provide strain relief.


Meanwhile, OKW’s popular M16 and M20 QUICK FIX cable glands (IP 68) are now available in black (RAL 9005) as well as light grey (RAL 7035) PA. They are suitable for 1-4 mm housing wall thicknesses.


OKW’s normal M12, M16 and M20 cable glands are now also moulded from black (RAL 9005) or silver grey (RAL 7001) PA as standard. They feature superior pull relief and IP 68 sealing to 5 bar (with sealing ring).


OKW’s IP 67 grommets for Ø 5-10 mm and Ø 6-13 mm cables are now also available in black (RAL 9005) and light grey (RAL 7035) V-0 TPE as standard. They are suitable for wall thicknesses of 0.5 to 3 mm.

Colour sensor opens new opportunities in industrial monitoring


Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced the introduction of its B5WC Colour Sensor, which enables monitoring of equipment, plant, and industrial processes through detection of small colour changes. Specific applications are being developed through co-creation with industry partners. The colour sensor uses a white LED to emit light and receive reflected light according to the colour of detected objects. The colour sensor separates received reflected light into red, green, and blue, then outputs RGB data as voltage values using the I2C interface.


Applications range from monitoring of lubricant deterioration in robot arms and elevators, through drinks dispensers, to object detection on production lines. Omron’s new B5WC promises an innovative solution to these issues. For example, the colour sensor monitors oil deterioration in hydraulic equipment used in industrial machinery - in real time using colours to monitor the condition of the oil. Providing maintenance at optimal timing is vital for manufacturing plants. Minimal production losses within manufacturing sites contribute to carbon neutrality. Development of sensing technology and optical design technology enables simpler integration into the equipment thanks to compact size, just W:40mm x D:8.4mm x H:15.9mm. Plus, integrating I2C communications into the sensor streamlines embedding in the equipment. The new sensor helps customers to remotely monitor equipment deterioration in real-time, leading to the visualization of the equipment and the reduction of person-hours required for inspection and maintenance. It offers solutions to the problems faced by the industrial machinery and hydraulic equipment industries through highly efficient and systematic maintenance.

Cost-effective and smaller alternative to coaxial RF contacts

The new Custom Grid Array technology offers a contact layout using spring probe and target contacts to deliver the same RF performance as cabled coaxial solutions, with improved signal integrity.
