Do you use an EPOS (retail technology?) We use an EPOS system
Any difficulties/problems? The only difficulties we have is explaining to customers that we are only prepared to provide them with a measurement if they are purchasing from us as we feel it is very unprofessional to just give out a measurement for our customers to purchase elsewhere, as this has led to an increase in children needing orthotics to correct the damage due to ill fitted shoes, the measurement is only a guide for us as to where to start with a fitting.
What is your favourite children’s brand – and why? It’s hard to have a favourite brand as all my brands cover different needs.
How do you select your products – which criteria do you use / what are your customers looking for? When I do my buying I tend to look at what is available from each brand that covers my customers’ budget and the styles and colours they tend to like. My customers always seem to look for quality above everything else.
Which footwear/fashion shows do you attend, how do you rate them? I don’t actually attend any footwear shows as I am a hands on owner, so tend to be too busy, I am happy with the brands I am currently selling and am not looking for anything new at the moment.
Do you have a favourite footwear agent you can tell us about? Ricosta is the agent that has been with me from day one. They gave me vital help and support when I first opened and knew nothing of the shoe trade. They are more than just an agent to me in every aspect and are always very grateful of their continuing support.
Have you always had a passion for footwear? How many pairs of shoes do you own? Do you have a favourite pair? I am a typical lady that loves her shores and as most husbands say has far too many! I love my Skechers, and in winter wear Geox and Ricosta as being a size 37 means I get to wear a lot of what I sell.
Any famous customers? We have had the pleasure of looking after Julie Etchinghams (presents and reports for ITV news at ten) two sons in the past.
And, the next step? Any plans for the future, new lines, retail systems/new technology, etc.? We relocated in July of last year into the town, as opposed to a side street in Cromer, and since the move a lot of new customers have discovered us. So, we are looking forward to meeting even more new little customers in the future.
