The Board of the British Footwear Association announce that John Saunders will stand down as Chief Executive Officer at the end of the BFA’s financial year.

John joined the BFA in April 2013 as Sales and Marketing Director being promoted to CEO in November 2014.
From the out-set, John has been committed to increasing the profile of UK footwear and to broadening representation on the Board to reflect the diverse make-up of BFA membership. Through his understanding and experience of export, John has nurtured a close working relationship with Government. Helping the BFA to Trade Challenge Partner status with the Department of International Trade and more recently bringing together a Footwear Trade Panel working with the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy ensuring the footwear sector has input to the development of new post BREXIT trade agreements.
During his tenure as CEO, the BFA committed
to supporting industry relevant training and successfully delivered an all-new Level 2

Footwear Manufacturer Apprenticeship and closer links with UK Fashion and Textile and the Cordwainers and Pattenmakers City Liveries.
John will leave the BFA on 28 February 2019 and the Board thank him for all the hard work and commitment he has shown to UK footwear during his tenure and wish him all the best in the future.
The British Footwear Association has begun
the recruitment process for John’s successor and further announcements will be made upon completion of the process.
