Cheryl Taylor, Editor, asks independent footwear retailer David O’Dwyer of Shoe Suite, O’Dwyers (established 1960), with six stores in Eire, why he buys bugatti?
Kindly tell us about your shop, its location and your customers? We have 6 stores, Kilkenny,Clonmel, Dungarvan, Midleton and two in Cork city. Three of these stores sell Men’s shoes. These stores trade under the name Shoe Suite or O’Dwyer’s (esatablished in 1960)
What made you decide to buy bugatti? Shoelink was the distributor for this brand for four years until we sold it on to Bench Grade Brands. Therefore we have an intimate knowledge of the brand and its final consumer.
Which features of the brand do you like best and why? It caters for a young market at a great price ticket. The range includes formal and casual styling so it captures all needs for that sector.
How does this brand compare with other brands in the same category you stock/have stocked? It competes well in that price/age sector and offers a strong well recognised brand name with good quality and fit.
Which styles have worked best for you? Initially the brand was about basics and formal styling. It has developed into a more fashion influenced brand with a strong casual look in addition to the still strong formal look.

Is the brand one of your best-sellers? Where does it stand price-wise? It is our strongest brand in this sector because of the style/value/quality.
Which are the most popular styles? It used to be mainly formals, brogues, toe caps and ankle boots …. Now it’s also selling in the sneaker casual and canvas area.
Have you recommended the brand to other retailers? Yes.
Please tell about the service you receive from the manufacturer? The brand is stronger now on delivery than before. They also offer a reasonable stock service and like most strong brands I believe a b2b service is the pipeline.
