s editor of Footwear Today, I attend various footwear trade shows each season, including


the London Shoe Show, held twice a year, at the Copthorne Tara Hotel, in London’s Kensington. I always look forward to visiting this event, which is one of my favourites, held after MODA and MICAM, in the comfortable surroundings of a luxurious London hotel, with on-site parking and free refreshments throughout the day.


It is a popular show with footwear retailers and


department store buyers, justly so, as one cannot fail but be impressed at the amazing displays of some of the finest footwear that Europe has to offer, and this season was no exception.

and MODA in February, however, it did not come as a surprise to find the recent LSS event was quieter than usual. But, despite the Corona Virus and transport delays, footwear retailers were in

evidence at the March London Shoe Show, admittedly fewer than usual, and some of the footwear agents on the stand were clearly doing business.

Justin Morgan, HB Shoes, commented to Footwear Today “There is no doubt the LSS was impacted by the Corona Virus and the general downturn in trade. However, most exhibitors were “happy” with the show and have committed to returning in September. Fast on the heels of incredibly quiet MODAs and SOLE the show was, unfortunately as expected.”


The relatively low costs, convenience, timing


and access still make the LSS an important date in the diary, however it will be being reviewed very carefully by both organisers and exhibitors alike, as will all shows for the coming season.
