ith May in full swing and spring well and truly sprung, this
month’s issue of Automation brings lots of interesting and
exciting developments, right from the heart of our ever-evolving industry. This issue is a jam-packed one, with a strong focus
on Warehousing & Logistics, as well as an old favourite, Machine Vision Systems. On somewhat of a sour note, it is concerning to hear

of the recent study by NTT Security, which reveals both the UK manufacturing and technology sectors are battling for first place as the most cyber-attacked industry sector, with the latter just pipping manufacturing to the post. We are in a time where the use of high-quality manufacturing and advancing technologies are key to standing out from a very competitive crowd, which comes with its security risks, but it really is a case of better safe than sorry. You can read more on this report and how to better protect your company in our news section. By the time you’re reading this, UKIVA’s Machine
Vision Conference will be just around the corner. I, alongside our business manager, Emma, am very excited to be attending, especially with Automation sponsoring the ‘Understanding Vision Technology’ seminars all day, so, if you’re coming along, be sure to say hello! Also, don’t forget to check out the UKIVA preview on pages 32-34, just to get a little taste of what will be on offer, when you get there. Talking of events, Future Robotics is growing ever
closer, with the conference taking place on 18 September. Here’s your chance to hear from industry experts, network with peers and see live demonstrations of the products and solutions that are sure to set the precedent for the UK robotics industry in 2020. There is no better time to discuss change and improvement within the sector, after somewhat of an uncertain first half of the year for business and the manufacturing industry in particular.
