PREVIEW PPMA SHOW END EFFECTOR FITS LIKE A GLOVE METAL DETECTORS MEET ‘DESIGNED TO SURVIVE’ CRITERIA

On stand C50, Brillopak will show how it is overcoming the challenge of automating the gentle placement of heavier food items, including pre- packed potatoes, vegetables, fruit and larger VFFS wrapped meat joints, in addition to netted and boxed products. Using a soft, food-grade material,

the Unipack Glove end effector can be fitted to any dexterous single-pick case loading robot. Unlike grippers, which can pierce packaging, bruise fresh produce or affect vacuum seals causing faster spoilage and discolouration, Brillopak designed the Glove to delicately pick up and release items with precision and control. By cradling products that cannot be lifted by suction due to weight, for example melons, or certain types of packaging materials, including nets, the Glove scoops up items individually and gently lowers each product into retail crates. Being multifunctional, the Glove can

handle a range of packaging formats. Brillopak

Loma Systems will highlight its wide range of metal detection, checkweighing and X-ray inspection equipment on stand C22. The focus of the stand will be the company’s IQ4 Metal Detector series which has been designed to offer improved detection sensitivity, beyond IP69K washdown rating, larger 7” touch screen and variable frequency for pipeline & vertical fall models. The IQ4 Metal Detectors have

been developed to meet customers’ common inspection challenges and ensure low lifetime cost of ownership whilst also meeting Loma’s ‘Designed to Survive’ criteria. The detectors offer improved

sensitivity compared to previous models and many features, described by Loma as ‘industry firsts’. With the combination of an enhanced Auto Learn functionality, better product screening and more sophisticated signal processing, Loma’s IQ4 offers improvements in performance. The IQ4 technology has

enabled Loma to introduce true Variable Frequency to its Pipeline, Waferthin and Vertical Fall metal detectors for the first time. This means changes in products or packaging that necessitate an alteration in frequency no longer require costly and inconvenient operator intervention. In addition, Variable Frequency

PUT TIJ CODING TO THE TEST

At PPMA, Rotech Machines is inviting visitors to put thermal inkjet (TIJ) to the test on any coding task. Unveiling an extended range of TIJ printers, the company will demonstrate how this clean, cost-effective coding technology can challenge continuous inkjet (CIJ) and thermal transfer (TT) in a range of applications. “We want to show visitors that, in the vast majority of

applications, TIJ not only matches but outsmarts these more established technologies in terms of cost of ownership, ease of use and performance,” said Richard Pether, director at Rotech. In particular, Rotech will bust the TIJ myths and highlight its

ability to tackle three applications that have traditionally been dominated by CIJ and TT: creating light coloured codes on dark substrates; printing at high speed on flexible films; and over- printing codes onto labels. The development of white and yellow inks has broadened the

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

WAGO debuts lever and push-button terminal blocks at PPMA, on Stand A71. The company will launch two variants of its TOPJOB S family of rail-mounted terminal blocks. A push-button version and a lever-

actuated version, said to be the first terminal block of its kind, gives switchgear manufacturers a wider choice for wiring assemblies, with three different wiring options within the same product range. The clamping point of the push-button

terminal block is opened with any screwdriver or similar operating tool. Feed-through terminal blocks with push- buttons are available for wire with a cross-section between 0.14 to 25 mm². The push-button terminal block is available in 2-, 3- or 4-conductor variants. The lever-actuated variant is equipped

with a lever on the field side, and a push- button or operating tool-actuated connection on the secondary side. The clamping point on the field side is opened and closed by hand using the lever, allowing installers to tell at a glance which wires in an assembly are terminated.

application field for TIJ by enabling it to produce light codes on dark surfaces. Rotech invites visitors to come to its booth (A37) and see for themselves how its X1 Jet, iJet and X2 JET series of TIJ coders performs on applications traditionally the domain of TT technology, such as coding web-based materials and overprinting onto labels, and other packaging applications.

Rotech Machines A CARING WASHER

Industrial Washing Machines (IWM) will launch a heavy- duty cabinet washer [HC Cab 1000], suitable for “high care” food production applications. Alongside this new machine will be a range of hygiene solutions that includes boot washers, a new version of the popular EC20 eurobin washer, a cabinet utensil washer, hygiene stations and detergents. Visitors can see IWM’s products on stand C90. The “High Care” cabinet

washer’s flexibility is thanks to preset programs with various recipes for washing, rinsing and sanitising in any combination. It recirculates

In response to manufacturer calls for flexible, future proof, end-of-line machinery, Endoline will unveil its re- engineered 704 Fully Automatic Random Case Sealer, which can now manage an unprecedented range of case styles and sizes, meeting all current health and safety regulations (Stand C52). Endoline has expanded the case size range by almost 60% at its greatest increase, without compromising on speed. In addition to a greater range of case

sizes, manufacturers are now packing with a wider variety of case materials, from poorly scored, lightweight cases, to heavy, twin wall cases. To meet this challenge, Endoline has

hot water with detergent for a total wash process, offers a 2nd stage sanitising hot rinse and/or a final sanitising cycle. The HC 100 is energy efficient, and users can choose from single or two- door options. Other products on show

include the T400 High-Care single-lane continuous-wash tray washer, and the EC20 cabinet washer with TravelJet technology.

integrated a dual action hook into the 704 to provide greater control, ensuring that the inner flaps of the case are pushed into place before sealing, which overcomes tearing or the risk of the case opening at a later stage. For lighter weight cases, which are susceptible to tearing or crushing, the 704 now features side bars and a fully driven infeed with blade stop. This safeguards the consistent flow of cases into the machine, and also allows for greater speed control of the 704, which can now typically seal up to 14 random sized cases per minute.

allows processors to easily run different pack sizes and shapes whilst benefiting from improved stability and sensitivity. All models in the range boast a

7” colour touchscreen with a more intuitive interface that has been developed to simplify operation and offer advanced functionality.
