THE S-TYPE ELECTRIC ACTUATOR FROM J+J AUTOMATION
Is it the most user friendly actuator on the market? Quick and easy to install on-off, failsafe, modulating and failsafe modulating actuators are available from stock, with multi-colour LED light for continuous function status feedback information to the user
T
he latest version of the J+J electric actuator, designed, developed and
manufactured by J+J in the EU, takes the globally recognised brand that has been sold in more than 70 countries to a new level, and is now probably the most user friendly smart electric actuator on the market today.
MULTI-VOLTAGE 24V-240V The S-Type can uniquely accept and auto-detect any input voltage between 24V – 240V AC or DC, and can be on- off, failsafe, modulating or failsafe modulating. As with all models since 2002, all electrical connections are made externally, eliminating the need to remove the cover to connect.
FAILSAFE & MODULATING VERSIONS FROM STOCK Internally installed function conversion kits convert on-off function to either the BSR battery back-up failsafe or the DPS kit which gives superb modulating functionality with digital magnetic position sensing technology. J+J UK generally install and function test these kits to supply tested failsafe, modulating or failsafe modulating actuators, but the user friendly kits are quick and easy to install for retro-fit.
SIMPLE TO UPGRADE TO J3C-S Wiring is the same as earlier versions so when the time comes to replace an actuator, simply connecting the existing plugs to the S-Type will have it up and running in minutes.
VISUAL POSITION INDICATION Once connected, the J3C-S actuator keeps you visually informed of its operational status, continuously. Firstly a mechanically driven local visual
position indicator shows the valve position, indicating for either 2 or 3 way actuated valves. Secondly, internal switches advise end
of travel confirmation via a volt free circuit, allowing different supply and control system voltages to be employed.
14 SEPTEMBER 2018 | PROCESS & CONTROL Finally, the LED light sees an upgrade
from a single red colour to multi-colour, to enhance the already hugely popular and now much copied continuous visual status advisory light feature.
FUNCTION STATUS LIGHT The continuously visible LED shows green for open or opening and red for closed or closing, and introduces a blue colour for modulating versions. Interspersed with a flashing amber LED when moving, The J3C-S even shows if it is opening or closing.
FAULT WARNING LIGHT The benefit of the multi-colour LED extends to a fault warning light that not only advises users that the S-type will not respond to external commands as it is protected in ‘Fault / Service Interruption Mode’, but will also flash the LED and the sequence and colours of the flash will indicate a probable cause of the ‘Service Interruption’ for fast fault identification. This feature can tell users at a glance
whether the actuator is in manual mode or that the valve may be blocked, eliminating time consuming investigative work trying to discover why an electric actuator without this feature, is not responding to command signals.
FULL RANGE OF ACTUATED VALVES BUILT AND TESTED J+J UK’s valve actuation centre, approved to ISO9001-2015, supply a full range of electric ball and butterfly valves which are available in a variety of materials, all supplied fully assembled and dry bench function tested at their Matlock works in Derbyshire, UK.
