One such example of a company fueling its digital transformation efforts and showcasing a new way of working through the use of assisted reality technology is leading Nordic food solutions provider, Nemco. Prior to trialling the technology at an installation project in Denmark, food production machines coming from Italy required Italian specialists to be physically present onsite during installation. However, due to the pandemic and the restrictions at the time, the specialists were not allowed to travel. To address that challenge, the customer was shipped an assisted reality wearable to use on-site, so that the specialists in Italy could view the Danish installation remotely and offer their expertise. Not only was the installation conducted just as smoothly, but, thanks to the resulting travel and time savings, the invoice to the customer was reduced tenfold. Eliminating travel also


meant a saving in CO2 emissions. The pandemic has accelerated digital


transformation, with industries having to rapidly adapt in response to lockdown scenarios, where the need for a workforce to be socially distanced was paramount. Whilst this led to the adoption of technologies such as assisted reality out of necessity, it’s


apparent the benefits that digitisation brings and these new ways of working are here to stay. The rise in applications and IoT infrastructure that integrate assisted reality will only serve to drive further adoption.
