New beam angle LEDs from OMC focus light precisely for demanding high-intensity applications

or environmental sensing applications, lasers are increasingly being used to detect gases such as CO2,

N2O and NO. They achieve this by identifying the wavelength absorption lines of the different gases. However, the side modes of the laser, which are normally hard to detect, reduce the laser’s capability to distinguish between the various gases. In the 3.5 to 5µm range (mid infrared) the AQ6377 is the

only OSA that is capable of analysing the wavelength spectrum of lasers, including their side modes, with high accuracy. The Yokogawa AQ6377 is now able to offer the capability

to perform stable measurements in this wide wavelength range and also to evaluate pulsed QCL signals with low repetition rates, which has hitherto been difficult to achieve. The AQ6377 therefore delivers a true step change, allowing researchers to work with various pulse lengths and repetition rates.

MC, the pioneer in optoelectronics design & manufacture, has introduced two new surface-mount LEDs, an ultra-narrow 15 degree

beam LED and a 60 degree beam LED. Both new LEDs are produced by OMC in a range of package styles, beam angles and all popular LED wavelengths, plus infra-red versions. The two new devices join the SMD emitter series launched by OMC in late 2018, which includes a 30 degree output beam device that has proved very popular. The two new SMT LEDs provide designers with even greater choice and flexibility for a very wide range of applications, including signalling, indication, sensing and communications applications. Narrow beam angle LEDS are often challenging for designers to source with the move to surface-mount components. The LED body itself then acts as the lens, focusing the light into beam angles as narrow as 5 degrees. However, with the move to surface-mount components, some design versatility was lost.

with Heraeus Nexensos Platinum Sensors A

TC Semitec has announced that the Heraeus Nexensos’ range of platinum sensors has joined their line -up of precision thermal components. Heraeus are the worldwide market and technology leaders

in platinum thin film technology. Robin Savin ATC Semitec’s MD commented ‘We are delighted to include the range of Heraeus platinum sensors within our portfolio. It is a perfect fit which complements our current range. With our involvement across many different industries we see an increased demand for sensors at temperatures of 500°C and above. This being particularly relevant in the industrial probe sensor, automotive and 3D printing markets. Thin film platinum RTD elements are now extremely cost effective compared with other RTD sensing technologies, and due to their key characteristics of high precision, stability, repeatability and interchangeability, we see opportunities for even greater use within the UK and Irish markets.’ The Heraeus range of products joins an already impressive line-up

of innovative products from Semitec, PEPI, Asahi, TKS/ Thinking Electronics, Schott and Fuzetec. ATC Semitec

automotive and industrial applications. Jatinder P. Singh, Marketing Manager, Automotive at Lattice Semiconductor said, “As automotive and industrial developers integrate more electronics into their system designs, they require more hardware options to choose from to better address specific application requirements. Certifying that our Lattice Diamond design software is compliant with both the IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 standards makes our low power, small form factor FPGAs a more compelling hardware option for our automotive and industrial customers, and illustrates Lattice’s commitment to expanding our presence in these strategically important markets.”

Parker’s New PREMIER™ PBT-250FR Electrically Conductive Plastic Offers 5VA Flammability Rating

PREMIER™ PBT-250FR for EMI shielding in automotive applications. This new polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plastic will come to the assistance of any design engineer seeking a single pellet, electrically conductive, flame retardant material offering high levels of reliability whenever there is potential for fuel exposure or issues surrounding automotive fluid compatibility, thus providing complete peace of mind for the customer and end user. “In ongoing discussions with our partners, one request we kept
